We are currently looking for a swap for Easter break in April 2024 .We will respond to all offers . Our holiday home with sea views is on the west coast of Ireland

Our holiday home is a three bedroom cottage on the west coast of Ireland .As this is a holiday home we are open to all offers, both short term and longer throughout the year . We welcome any offers and advice from seasoned exchangers.
The cottage has three bedrooms, all of which has one double bed .There are two bathrooms, one of which is an ensuite in the main bedroom .
Also kitchen/dining room, sitting room, utility room with washer/dryer ,microwave and undercounter freezer. Larger chest freezer in garage. Separate games room with Bar billiards table, Dart Board and Rings boards, TV, Bar and X-box
The front garden has a patio with sea views and a patio to the rear of the cottage for your early morning breakfast/ coffee (these flag stones on this rear patio are rescued from the original cottage and are about 100 years old.

There is under floor heating throughout the cottage thermostats in each room. There is a log burner in the sitting room for that cosy evening feeling , logs are in the garage for your use.

There is a new vinyl record player with hundreds of vinyl records to suit most tastes. 😍 A DVD player. CD Stereo, TV with surround sound . Many board games for young and older alike.
There is a garden to the side of the cottage ,ideal safe area for a kick around of football suitable for children or the young at heart adults.
There are two bikes plus equipment available for use in the garage.
There is a small gym in the local hall one minute from cottage. The local GAA pitch where you get to see Gaelic football matches played is opposite the cottage. There is internet access at the cottage and the local hall opposite the cottage also has computer internet access
Area of killcummin known for the history of the French landing about 1 km away .The ceide fields (largest stone age monument in the world is a 6000 year old historic site )is about 15/20 minutes away (see web site Ireland heritage site for information).Great surfing ,fishing, beaches. Strand horse racing. Great hiking ,walking and biking area.
Closest beach is 5 minutes drive away ,suitable for swimming, surfing and fishing.
Many historical sites, Salmon fishing on the famous ridge pool on the River Moy and golf close by.
Many hiking trials around mayo. Travel the Wild Atlantic Way (website: www.ireland.com) The Great Western Greenway (www.greenway.ie) biking trial 40minutes away.
Knock airport is about an hours drive away.Dublin airport is 3 and half hour drive away.
Croagh Patrick the famous pilgrimage mountain is about 40 minutes away.
Large town of Ballina is 20 minutes away with many pubs , restaurants ,swimming pool new arts centre which holds many concerts and plays and there is a six screen cinema in the town, two of which are 3D cinemas.
The town celebrates the salmon festival in July, see festival web site for further information. Beleek castle has an award winning restaurant is on the outskirts of the town.you can also take beautiful walks through beleek woods or have a picnic at the many picnic benches throughout the woods
Smaller village of killala with shops , pubs and one of the best round tower examples in Ireland , etc 10 minutes away. Local pub 3 minutes drive away on the pier with great views. Beautiful scenic walks /runs outside your door.
Large town of castlebar approx 50km away . There is the turlough folk museum here well worth visiting .
The beautiful village of Westport well worth visiting is one hours drive away . Many scenic drives here , on your way home to cottage Foxford known for its rug making and museum is a nice place to stop for a cuppa and a visit

Large gas BBQ . Small patio log burner. (Chimney ). There are wet suits available for use.
In the garage .
We have out door patio furniture and a double swing hammock.

We are a couple who would like to exchange from end of June to aug for a period of two / three weeks.. And maybe some long weekends or single weeks during the year. We are open to all offers or suggestions . We love animals but do not have any at this time .

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Knock Co, Mayo - 60 km

Do you like a home away from home , then, our home is it. In the very scenic west of Ireland. Close to beaches , with lovely walks and hikes .The cottage is in the countryside ,with the sea about 1 mile away from our cottage. There are many historical sites close by . The ceide fields, killcummin pier area associated with historical French landing of 1798. Rathfran Abbey dated around 1274 ,The round tower dated between 11 th to 13th century reported to be the best example in mayo if not the whole of ireland is in killala ,these are to name but a few. The famous ridge pool known worldwide to anglers as an area of the best fishing in Europe for salmon is about 12 km away. There is three beaches within 2 to 5 km away the closest been 2km. There are many hiking trials both for the average walker and the more seasoned walkers in co mayo with some of the most beautiful views . The towns of Westport and Castlebar are worth a visit, as is the village of Foxford famous for the Foxford rugs made in the local factory which also has a museum. The Turlough folk life museum in Castlebar. Cong village famous for the film starring John Wayne and Maureen o Hara The Quite Man are all within reach. If you like the outdoor life then you will love mayo.Mayo is as busy as you want to make it or as relaxing as you may want. There are both German and French families who have holiday homes in the area as well as many other nationalities . Come relax enjoy the beautiful west of ireland

About Our Family

We are a family of four. Our two children are Sarah aged 30 years and David 25 years of age . Paddy is a company director and Pauline is a special needs assistant/teacher assistant working with special needs children aged 6 years plus.
Daughter Sarah works in an A B A (applied behaviour analysis ) school which caters for children aged 4 to 18 years of age with autism and other addional needs .Our Son David a barman .
Our main home is in Navan, Co, Meath, on the east coast of Ireland.

Our holiday home is in Lacken, Co, Mayo on the west coast of Ireland.
We love to travel, do outdoor activities eg. Golf ,fishing , canoeing , hiking ,walking ,running, cycling, and explore new places and meeting people .
