Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Copenhagen - 59 km

About 700 people live in the idyllic village of Torna Hällestad. The village is 15 km from the university town of Lund and 30 km from Malmo. It's only one hour drive to Copenhagen Airport.

Right in the middle of the village is the church, dating from the 12th century. The village is surrounded by horse pastures and nature reserves. There are plenty of opportunities for walking or cycling in beautiful scenery. Just a few kilometers from the village there is a small swimming lake and one of the best bird lakes in the country - Krankesjön.

This most southern region of Sweden is called Skåne. According to the Lonley Planet guidebook...
"Skåne (Scania) is Sweden at its most continental. Connected to Denmark by bridge, its trademark mix of manors, gingerbread-style abodes and delicate, deciduous forests are a constant reminder that central Europe is just beyond the horizon. Dominating the scene is metropolitan Malmö, defined by its cosmopolitan culture and striking, twisting tower. Further out, velvety fields, sandy coastlines and stoic castles create one of Sweden’s most bucolic landscapes. Add to this the fact that Skåne is often dubbed Sweden’s larder and you have yourself one scrumptious Scandi treat."

In recent years, the region of Skåne has also been "discovered" as an interesting destination in international press. For example, in the list of "Places to go in 2016" published by New York Times:

Almost everyone who lives in Torna Hällestad are working in one of the nearby towns, but have chosen to settle here for the proximity to nature and to be able to give their children a good upbringing.
