House in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, Great Britain - a pretty village near Brighton

We are looking for a holiday in a ski resort in 2015 also holiday exchanges in May/June 2015.. Hurstpierpoint is a very attractive large village on the edge of the South Downs tracing its roots back to the Domesday Book. We live on the high street right opposite the church which was designed by the famous architect Sir Charles Barry who designed the Houses of Parliament. The village has a good range of shops including an excellent butcher, a fishmonger, a greengrocer ,a bakery, a delicatessen and several small boutique shops selling clothes, shoes, everything for the kitchen and gifts of all kinds.  We have four excellent restaurants in the village which are all within easy walking distance from our house

Our Neighbourhood

We have three pubs in the village ,one serving traditional pub food and one with an excellent dining room. There is also a very good Indian restaurant a good Italian wine bar/restaurant and ‘The Fig Tree’ serving a delicious range of English/French cuisine. These are all on the High Street within easy walking distance of our house. There are good connections to London, Brighton and Gatwick Airport from Hassocks station which is less than two miles from the house. We live on the edge of the South Downs -http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/southdowns/text.asp?PageId=2 and there are lovely walks directly from the house , many of them on National Trust land. There is a very good Leisure Centre about five miles away with three different swimming pools and other facilities. Several National Trust properties are close by as is the Bluebell Steam Railway- http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk. Brighton, (www.visitbrighton.com) which is six miles away, offers all the attractions of a cosmopolitan city with shops, theatres, restaurants, an excellent concert hall and of course the sea and its Regency Pavilion. London is approximately one hour by train.
