Flat in Budapest , Hungary
We live in a beautiful & stylish apartment (120 sq. m. 3-bedroom, 1 bathroom (separate WC), spacious kitchen) in the heart of Budapest, on the Pest side of, and just one street over from the Danube river. Located on the first floor (2nd for USA-ers), it is a classical Central European flat with high ceilings, a bay window in the living room, and lot's of air and light. Three bedrooms provide comfortable accommodation for a maximum of six people. Our 30 sq m. living room is a wonderful space for spending time together. Our large kitchen is a great place to cook a quick meal, or just share a cup of tea or coffee with family or friends in its cosy & comfy sitting area. Full renovation of our home was completed in 2008, so everything is still very new and lovely, and we enjoy the renewed beauty of it all very much indeed!

Our Neighbourhood

Our neighborhood has been compared by some of our visitors to the Latin Quarter (Quartier latin) of Paris. It is primarily a university, culture, arts, & bistro cafe district. It has a charming local flavor, great energy, much going on. It is very local, not touristy at all, but only a short walk to the famous touristy spots in downtown Budapest. We live a very villagy lifestyle in our neighborhood: we walk everywhere, we can do all of our shopping and errands in the neighboring streets, no need even to use our excellent public transportation system. There's a lovely park on the Danube river less than a 2 minute walk from our building, and you can walk and bike along the embankment, enjoy the magnificent river views. You can also take pleasure boat trips from here. Budapest's famous, gorgeous, not to mention delicious Central (Food/Produce) Market is less than a ten-minute walk from our building, or hop on a tram and be there in five minutes. The famous Gellert Baths are just across the river, you can simply walk across Szabadsag-bridge, or, again, hop on the tram. You can live the local lifestyle here, but you can also easily venture out to discover many of the city's beautiful historical and architectural sites and attractions. Budapest's Spring and Autumn Festivals are world famous (Opera, Ballet, Classical Music, Theater) - we especially recommend them to cultural travelers. The Hungarian Tourism Board Web site is a good place to start exploring. http://www.hungarytourism.hu Budapest is also a great place to anchor yourself for a regional adventure: the Budapest-Vienna-Prague triangle! Vienna is less than 3 hours away (excellent train connections, or by car), Prague and overnight train ride away.
