Our home is located in the Municipality of North Saanich, 25 km from Victoria, the capital of British Columbia on beautiful Vancouver Island. Conde Nast Traveller Magazine has just named Victoria as the Best City in the World based on over 520,000 travellers who participated in this years’ (2023) Reader’s Choice Awards by submitting their travel experiences. Tokyo, Sydney, Copenhagen were among other cities in the top 20. Vancouver Island itself is rated as one of the best island destinations in North America by those same readers. The picturesque town of Sidney-By the Sea is a short five minute drive from our house and has a variety of everything you need...groceries, restaurants, shops, street markets, an aquarium, eco tours...and more.
Our neighborhood is in a semi-rural area on Patricia Bay, on a beautiful protected inlet of the Pacific Ocean. Our house was architecturally designed and built with cedar board and batten construction. Bald eagles perch on the adjacent towering Douglas Fir trees overlooking Patricia Bay. The house has the look and feel of a cottage, but with all the amenities.
The beach in front of our home is warm and family friendly in the summer for swimming and tanning in the sun. We have a two person kayak for a pleasant paddle on the Bay as well as two bicycles for exploring the extensive country farm roads and trails literally steps away to the east from our house.
We are a short distance from the Victoria International Airport and ten minutes from the car/passenger ferry terminal to the City of Vancouver (rated as the most liveable city in the world), a 90 minute cruise through the scenic Gulf Islands. From the "picture perfect" Victoria Inner Harbour you can board a fast catamaran passenger ferry which takes you through the beautiful San Juan Islands straight to Downtown Seattle in a little over two hours.
There is so much to see on Vancouver Island... towering old growth forests, mountains, coastline, wildlife, living native Indian culture...all on an island the size of Belgium. Our Volvo V70 station wagon will get you everywhere in comfort.
