House in lovely Montclair, Near New York City, USA, Quiet, Safe and Spacious

We live in a lovely, tree-lined town about 12 miles due west of New York City. You can see the sparkling lights of Manhattan between the trees. Our house is on the top of what is called First Mountain, (the first sizable rise west of New York City.)  Our land goes into a 100 acre forest preserve. Our street is a dead end in both directions and has no car traffic at all.  It's a peaceful and very safe place to relax after a hard day of sightseeing in New York City.  Our town of Montclair, New Jersey is one of the nicest towns in the metropolitan area, with many restaurants, movie theaters, jazz clubs and even a good art museum
Our house is more like an old lodge. The first floor is made of stone that was taken from the ground behind our house. It was built in 1909.  It has plenty of bedrooms(5) and baths (4) and has three floors. Everything is old, but comfortable.  We have a Chevy Volt (2019) for you to use. Also we have all the modern electronics you could want -- Apple, PC, Wii, very high speed internet, xbox360 etc.
By the way, we have a brand new kitchen (Scandinavian design), and other upgrades that will soon be in the pictures. You will really like the kitchen.
It takes about five minutes to walk either to the train or to the bus to New York. The bus takes about 25 minutes. The train takes about 50 minutes.
Our exchange dates are from about July 15 to August 15. Our previous 12 exchanges have worked out well and we'd be happy to supply references. Visitors truly enjoy our house and area.
(Also because of the many large trees, it is about 5-10 degrees (F) cooler than New York City. But in case it gets hot, we have four air-conditioners in the bedrooms.)

We are avid bike riders and will bring our own bikes. If the weather is good, we will hardly use your car. Last summer in Denmark we biked 500 km. (Please let us know how the biking is in your area.) Many thanks

About Our Family

We are avid bicyclers. We bring our own bikes. We won't use your car very much except to go to different biking areas. Sharon is an economic professor. Les runs a small non-profit educational institute and write books. We have done many exchanges and they've all been extremely successful.
Our home is like an old lodge, in the woods with a view of New York. Ideal for visiting the city and then coming home to a country retreat. Nothing fancy but very, very comfortable and spacious. Sharon is very allergic to animal hair so we can't do an exchange with any pets.

Lifestyle

We love to bike. We bring our own and will hardly use your car at all.
