Mountain home in Boulder, Colorado USA

Our home is located in a small subdivision of 30 homes approximately 10 km west of the City of Boulder, Colorado. The subdivision, Swiss Peaks, is on the south flank of Sugarloaf Mountain, completely surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest. You can walk out the front door and enter the forest immediately. Switzerland trail, a former narrow guage railroad bed that runs 40 miles throughout the area is directly behind the house. It is popular for mountain biking and hiking. Indian Peaks National Wilderness Area is 5 miles away and Rocky Mountain National Park is 15 miles away. We have all of the creature comforts of city living while being secluded on Sugarloaf Mountain. Satellite television, internet access and a full working office (computer, fax, copier, etc.) are available in our home. Even though it's a mountain retreat, we are only a 15 minute drive to downtown Boulder. We have three bedrooms upstairs (3 twin beds and one queen) and a fold down queen in our music room on the lower level. There are bathrooms on every floor. We have a large outdoor deck on the main level and a patio on the lower level. All sporting equipment for all seasons are available.

Our Neighbourhood

Boulder is a fairly large (103,000 population) city northwest of Denver, Colorado. It was recently rated the "#1 sports town in america" by Outside Magazine, offering countless year-round recreational activities. You can take advantage of the 200 miles of public hiking and biking trails, approximately 30,000 acres of open space. Sometimes referred to as the "Peoples Replublic of Boulder", it has a very diverse and coastal population. Home to the University of Colorado, it is also one of the most highly educated cities in America. For dining, there are over 300 restaurants featuring local, regional and international cuisine. The primary appeal of living in Boulder is that it is nestled into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, while being less than 20 minutes away from a major city (Denver) and a major airport (Denver International Airport). You can fly fish in the morning and see a major broadway production or classical concert later in the day. If you're into sports, we have the Denver Broncos, Nuggets, Colorado Rockies and the Avalanche. Oh, I forgot to mention; we have great weather as well.

About Our Family

Mindy and I are long term residents of Boulder, Colorado. I originally arrived in Colorado in 1978 and never left our beautiful state. We raised two fantastic children with the help of the Boulder County School system. Our daughter graduated from SAIC in Chicago and our son is enrolled CU Denver. Mindy is a Dental Hygienist and I am involved in Fire Management during the summer months. I am also an active firefighter in numerous capacities with the Sugar Loaf Fire Protection District, Boulder County Sheriffs Office and the National Forest Service. We have done over 20 exchanges with Intervac over our adult lives; France Switzerland, England, Belgium, Hawaii, Utah, etc. and have had great experiences with all of them. We are open to short term local as well as long term far flung adventures and look forward to hearing from you on your ideas. Because of my commitments for fire from May through September, we cannot do simultaneous exchanges during the summer months but we can consider non-simultaneous offers. We are wide open the rest of the year.
