Flat in Bern, Switzerland

2)  vestibule, 3-4) living room, 5-6)  kitchen ("cuisine américaine"), 7-8)  office with double bed (fully extended 160*210), 9)  view from apartment, 10)  bedroom (double bed, 180 * 210cm)

My apartment is located in a beautiful early-19th century mansion overlooking Switzerland's capital city and geographical heart, Bern. It is quiet but very close to the centre of Bern - max.15 minutes walk to everything you would like to visit: http://www.bern.com/en/index.cfm. It has all the trimmings needed for your comfort, it sleeps 2 in the bedroom and additional 2 on the sleeper couch in the separate office, and as you look out its windows, you will see the Alps and Jura mountains beyond the city's rooftops and steeples, easy destinations for your walking or trekking excursions.
Or perhaps you prefer an early start to the skiing season (sometimes even in November)? The skiing season lasts until April.
Bern itself has the advantages of being a capital city that offers excellent museums (among them the Paul Klee museum), concert halls, loads of pubs and restaurants..., whilst also being cosy and centrally located for exploring Switzerland. Cruise the turquoise lakes of Thun, Luzern or Neuchâtel in the crisp, clear Alpine air or catch the steam-powered train up the Brienz Rothorn mountain and return to Bern's cultural and culinary charms.

The city of Bern is officially German- and French-speaking, but there is a strong international presence, and you will thus be able to get by easily with English as well.
For breakfast, lunch or dinner you should try the Rosengarten (http://www.rosengarten.be/), just across from my apartment, offering a romantic terrace view of the old city and the river Aare, or stroll around the beautifully laid out rose gardens.
