Our Destination Wish List
We live in the Fiveways district of Brighton. It is a family area, full of Victorian/Edwardian architecture and tree lined avenues. Because of our position up a hill from Brighton there are many panaromic views. Whilst we have access to a variety of facilities, the area is generally very quiet, with little noise at night time.
Fiveways is a great place for families. We have 3 parks/playgrounds within walking distance, Blakers Park being only 150m away. The playgrounds at each of these parks were refitted last year and all have a good selection of activities for younger children.
Our local shops are only 200m away. They include a mini supermarket, greengrocers, butchers, possibly the best bakers in Brighton, newsagents, wine shop, bank, post office and a delicatessent, cafe and even a toy shop. A large supermarket is approximately 3km away.
There are a selection of pubs providing food within walking distance of our home.
Regular bus services will take you to the city centre or jump on the open top bus up to the south downs for a picnic! If you fancy walking down the hill to the city centre it takes approximately 40 mins.
Our nearest train station is a 10 minute walk from the house. This will swiftly take you to Brighton's main station, giving you easy access to the London main line services as well as a range of destinations along the South coast.

About Our Family
We are a family of 5 with 2 girls (15, 8) and 1 boy (11). Hugo works for the National Health Service and Liz works in a Special Needs school. We had a successfuill exchange last year, and also have a number of friends who are regular intervacers.
Our home consists of a living room with large screen tv, cable tv, DVD player, Wii, Playstation 2 and 3 and stereo. A second reception room houses the computer with free wifi internet, a large selection of board games, DVDs, books and toys.
The kitchen/diner is well equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. We have access to constant hot water.
There are 4 bedrooms. The main bedroom is large and airy with a King Size bed. Bedroom 2 has bunk beds. Bedroom 3 is a single bed with an additional pull out mattress. Finally the attic room is light and airy and has a small double bed.
Our outside space is not large, but the garden is pleasant to sit in, with a table and chairs for outside dining and a barbeque. Having access to so many local parks we do not find the small garden much of an issue.
We have a selection of bikes and scooters which you are welcome to use.
We have a resident cat. She is small and independent, and comes and goes through her catflap. She often stays at various houses down the street only popping back every few days to check her food bowl is full. She will be staying in the house whilst we are away, so we would be looking for someone to keep an eye on her food bowl for her.
We also have a dog but she will be staying elsewhere during the exchange.
Our street is quiet and easy to park on.
Brighton holds an enviable position, nestled between the English Channel to the South and the scenic rolling countryside of the South Downs to the North. We are only 80km from London, with regular train services taking under an hour to the capital, but also running along the coast.
Brighton has much to offer visitors. It is a vibrant and diverse city. We have the Brighton Pier, a traditional English seaside attraction, with fairground and amusements, candyfloss and icecream. The rejuvenated sea front is wonderful to walk along, and is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants for you to take a rest, and soak up the atmosphere. Set back from the sea Brighton has three seperate shopping areas. We have the large shopping centre which contains all the large branded stores, but also an independent area of quirky shops called the North Laines, and then the cobbled, narrow streets of the Lanes, known for its antique jewelery shops and restaurants.
There is a public swimming pool in the city centre, museums and art galleries.
To the north of Brighton are the South Downs. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with a wealth of walks of varying levels, cycle trails, and English country pubs to visit.
