We, Cor and Evelien, live in a small village (500 inhabitants) in the so called Zak van Zuid-Beveland, a national landscape and a part of the province  Zeeland. In spring this part of the country is filled with apple- and peartrees, so you can imagine it's all blooming wherever you look. In the autumn apples and pears are harvested and in many cases you can buy them from the farmers themselves. It's also a part of the country which is very suitable for cycling. All kinds of small roads, dykes give you the opportunity to enjoy the quiet landscape.
Beautiful cities in Belgium like Antwerpen, Brussels, Brugge and Gent are all within one hour drive! We live 80 km. south of Rotterdam and within one hour of medieval cities as Bergen op Zoom, Breda and Middelburg.
The oldest part of our house was build in the 17th century as the village forge. Over the years people have build new rooms and made the house bigger. There are a lot of little tresholds in the house. The master bedroom (the former forge) is downstairs, as is the bathroom and toilet. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a loft. Visitors and friends are always very surpised when they enter our house. This is because when you are standing in front of the house you can't imagine how the house extends to the rear.
We have a very big garden (1700 square meters) with a lot of fruittrees, almondtree, walnuttree and many different kind of berries. It means a lot of work as you will surely understand but is is lovely to work in the garden.
There is also a pond  which is 1.20 m. deep in the centre and 0.40 cm. at the sides. In the garden we have made numerous places either in the sun or the shade of the walnuttree where you can sit, enjoy a glass of wine, read a book, or just talk. It is very quiet here. Only the birds will be heard.
Our four children are all living with there partners and their children in different parts of the country. Evelien is a retired teacher in a primary school and is also an advanced flower designer.
Cor is retired after over 40 years of working in education. Last job: chairman of the governing board of 22 primary schools. Cor have a small company which offers pilgrimtravels and tailormade special trips: www.tevoetisgoed.nl
