House in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Ireland

Our house is located in the beautiful rolling countryside of County Kilkenny, approximately 20 km outside the cities of Kilkenny and Waterford. A new motorway provides easy access to these cities and Dublin. The small villages of Hugginstown, Ballyhale, and Knocktopher all within 5 km have small groceries and pubs.

There are two houses on the property – a main house and a guest house. Both are beautifully renovated farmhouses. The main house has a large family kitchen, a family room with T.V., a dining room, a large master bedroom with Queen-size bed, and a second bedroom with single bed. There’s one full bathroom with a bath, one shower room and a small toilet off the master bedroom. The guest house features a kitchen, sitting room, two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, and a toilet and shower.
The house is located on a one-acre parcel with plenty of room for outdoor activities. Both houses are available for exchange or rent.

Our Neighbourhood

There are many attractions locally. The medieval City of Kilkenny (20 minutes away by car) is very lively and has a great range of restaurants, pubs, shops and other attractions. Kilkenny hosts several festivals over the summer months including the Kilkenny Arts Festival (10-19 August 2012) and the Cat’s Laugh comedy festival (May 31-June 4, 2012).  The Viking city of Waterford, a short 30-minute drive away by motorway, is also a lively spot with plenty to do and see. The world-famous Mount Juliet golf course and resort, designed by Jack Nicklaus, is located approximately 5 km away while several other golf courses are also available nearby. County Kilkenny is known for its rivers and excellent fishing. The region is also famous for its arts and crafts. Waterford Crystal, Nicholas Mosse, Jerpoint Glass and a number of  craft workshops can be found throughout the county.  For more information about the area, see the links below.

We are interested in doing short exchanges over the year including one week in March and 1-2 weeks in July/August. Since this is our holiday home, our exchanges does not have to be simultaneous. We are also willing to rent out one or both of the houses for 1-2 week periods and also for longer stays. We are open to all offers!
