3br house just outside Boston, accessible by public transit
Our 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath 1926 Colonial house has a deck overlooking a big grassy backyard, a semi-finished basement, an outdoor hot tub, and a contemporary kitchen. It's in Newton, Massachusetts, a "streetcar suburb" of Boston that is among the safest cities in America.
A car is not strictly necessary, as we are in a very walkable neighborhood and one mile away from a light rail stop that can get you into Boston. But it is certainly useful, especially if you want to explore outside the immediate Boston area. We may be able to do a car exchange with you.
We have a dog, who will be boarded while we are away, but if you are allergic it might not be a good idea.
Notes:
1. We have installed a grass yard in the back (where the photo shows a driveway), and a hot tub.
2. We have not posted photos of bedrooms but those can be available on request if we start a serious conversation.

Our Neighbourhood
Nearest Airport: Boston (Logan) - 12.7 miles
0.7 miles (15 minute walk) away is Newton Centre, a neighborhood with restaurants, bars, stores, and a light rail (Green Line) stop that will take you into Boston; Newton Highlands, a different neighborhood with restaurants, bars, etc. is a similar distance.
Other walking distances:
Whole Foods (grocery/health food store) and Walgreens Pharmacy are two blocks away.
Library - 5 minute walk.
Public parks and playgrounds - less than 10 minutes' walk.
Crystal Lake swimming beach - 15 minutes' walk
Cold Spring Park - 12 minutes' walk
Boston College - farther but definitely walkable.
Churches and synagogues - several within walking distance.
Downtown Boston is about 30 minutes by trolley from Newton Centre. I didn't post any photos from Boston but obviously you can research it online -- it is one of America's oldest and most important cities, site of many historic events from the 17th century onwards. Europeans often enjoy the North End and Beacon Hill, with their narrow and winding streets.
Cambridge (home to Harvard and MIT) is about a 20 minute drive; Uber/Lyft/taxi might be best because parking is hard.

Lifestyle
For this trip it would just be the two adults - kids will be away for the summer. We're looking for a fun vacation in an interesting city or place where we can do some outdoor activities.
