Holiday home in Russell, New Zealand

Our beautiful, peaceful Boatshed is on a peninsula in quiet semi-rural surroundings, 7kms from Russell village. The Boatshed provides comfortable accommodation for up to two couples and two children. There is access to the bay below via a track down the hill and through native bush. This is separate holiday accommodation next to our main house. The village is a short drive away as is the glorious Long Beach.

The Boatshed is good, comfortable and simple accommodation, with very good beds and simple furniture. The living area and kitchen are open plan and about 35 m2. There are large doors that open onto a large external deck. The bathroom is downstairs and has a shower, toilet and hand basin. The laundry has a washing machine and tub. The bedrooms have full wardrobes and are all upstairs. The Bay of Islands has many beautiful beaches, historical places and a lot of places to see and visit.

In Russell, the local village you can visit a restaurant, catch a ferry across to Paihia, take a boat trip to see more of the islands or go on a fishing trip. There are many bush walks and beach walks. You can also do a day trip to the very top of the North Island to visit Cape Reinga. Look at www.northlandnz.com for more ideas. Or you can just stay at The Boatshed and sunbathe on the deck and walk down through the bush to visit the beach below at high tide. It is very likely we will be in the house next door if you come in the summer and we will be able to provide information or assistance.
Russell is in the Bay of Islands, a very beautiful area, 3 hours drive north from Auckland, 260kms. You can fly to Kerikeri an hour away but you do need a car to travel in this area. The drive from Auckland is lovely and there is a lot of beautiful country to see on the way.
