discover the south west of France from our family house in Toulouse
Our house is located in Toulouse (south-west of France), city of 450.000 inhabitants. We live in the “Minimes” neighborhood.
The nearest metro station, "Barrière de Paris", is 700m away, at 5 stations from the historical center.
It is a 155 m2 house, built on 2 floors (+ground floor), with 5 bedrooms (3 single beds, 2 double beds), a large living room and a kitchen/dining room in a sunny veranda.
It also has a quiet garden (100 m2) at the back of the house.
We have a very independant cat: no litter to change (she goes outside)... only food and hugs to deliver from time to time :)
--- About Toulouse and the area around
Toulouse is the 4th largest city in France, and is famous for:
- its light-red clay bricks used to build its older buildings, giving it its popular name of "pink-city"
- its rugby team "le stade Toulousain", one of the greatest European teams,
- being the centre of the European aerospace industry, with the headquarters of Airbus.
To do in Toulouse:
As an old city, Toulouse has a very nice historical center, that shall be visited on foot or by bicycle.
As a major city, it has many museums: arts and painting of course, but also natural history.
If you're interested in space and aeronautics, you will love the "Space Museum", one of the biggest ones dedicated to the subject, with its visitable copy of the sovietic MIR station; you will also like visiting the Airbus "final assembly line", where the A380 (the largest civil aircraft) is assembled.
You will also discover French gastronomy and local specialities (cassoulet, duck breast), with many restaurants
Within 1,5 hour from Toulouse, you will also find plenty of nice things to do:
- visit the outstanding fortified town of Carcassonne, part of the UNESCO list of "World Heritage Sites"
- visit the medieval city of Albi and its cathedral, added to the UNESCO list of "World Heritage Sites" in 2010; don't forget to make a stop by "cordes sur ciel", a lovely medieval town on the way to Albi
- gentle walk or trekking in the Pyrenees mountains
- sunbathe on the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea
- and many others... more info (available in several languages):
