Large family home right on the coast of beautiful North East England, close to the city of Newcastle and rural Northumberland.

MAIN SUMMER HOLIDAY ALREADY ARRANGED FOR 2019, SO, APOLOGIES WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A MAIN HOLIDAY IN JULY OR AUGUST 2019.

WE ARE ALWAYS INTERESTED IN A SHORT BREAK (FOUR OR FIVE NIGHTS) IN THE UK, OR SOMEWHERE EASY TO TRAVEL TO (CUMBRIA, YORKSHIRE, LONDON, NORTHERN FRANCE, HOLLAND...) DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. THANK YOU!

The North East of England is known for its friendly people and welcoming atmosphere. We're sure you'd be surprised at so much there is to do in this lesser known part of the world. But there is really so much here for any visitor and we are really proud of our region. Tynemouth is a great suburban village with a castle, plenty of bars, cafés, restaurants, and a large surfing community based on the beach, just across the road from our house. Away from the beach there are lots of activities within a short walk for families and all other visitors such as parks, children's play grounds, walks, sea kayaking, bike routes, a golf course, a crazy golf course...

It's also really easy to access the large city of Newcastle with attractions such as museums, music venues, great shopping and a world famous night life (if that's what interests you!). Within an hours drive you can visit the coast and castles of the beautiful and remote Northumberland countryside (including Alnwick castle where some of the Harry Potter films were made). Within two hours you can be in Edinburgh, York or The Lake District.

We're about 45 minutes from Newcastle airport by public transport, the same from Newcastle train station and about 10 minutes drive from North Shields ferry terminal (DFDS ferries to Amsterdam).

We have a five bedroom house (2 bedrooms en suite) and can sleep up to eight people. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and is quite separate from the other sleeping areas so could be suitable for someone with mobility problems who might find the stairs difficult or might suit different adult groups or families of two adult generations travelling together. We have a large back garden with plenty of room to play or enjoy a meal outside. We have a cat, Skye, who is very independent and easy to take care of, he also enjoys cuddles!

We think we have everything you need for a home exchange. You can have the use of bikes and scooters, body boards, and beach equipment. We have toys for all ages from toddlers to teenagers and lots of board games for all the family.

A few example of places you could easily visit...

(But once we know what sort of things you like we can recommend lots to do that would suit you, and we can give you our opinion of the best walks, restaurants, pubs, bike rides and places to go!)
