Big house just outside of Amsterdam
If you want to explore The Netherlands, this is for sure the best house to stay in. First because Bussum is right in the middle of The Netherlands. It's a cute little town with beautiful towns like Naarden close by and it takes only 20 minutes by train to the center of Amsterdam. Second because it is a very nice house, with 2 living rooms, 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (1 with a sauna) and 2 seperate toilets.
The house was built in 1924, was once an Amstel beer brewery, then a yoga studio and after that a video editing company. We renovated this wonderful place into a comfortable and cosy family home, with a garden that's an (organic) flower paradise for birds & bees.
We've done about 12 exchanges so far, in the USA, France, Germany, Danemark, Italy, Finland and Estonia, mostly through another exchange-website (I can send you a link to the reviews).
We have a second home in the Harz in Germany, in Sankt Andreasberg, also available for swapping. Listed too, nr NL0365.
NOTE: we can discuss all sorts of swapping: simultaneous or non-simultaneous; Dutch house or German house. Message for Dutch people: we don't do exchanges with houses in The Netherlands, except for the Waddeneilanden.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Schiphol, Amsterdam - 30 minutes drive
Ideally located as a touring base, our town offers easy access to Amsterdam. The train station is at about 10 minutes walking distance from our house, and the train brings you in exactly 20 minutes to Amsterdam Central Station. So you are really close to the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, the canals and the shopping areas of Amsterdam.
Our town is called Bussum and it's full of beautiful houses. It's not a big town but it has all the amenities you could be looking for while on vacation. Small shops, a library, a film theatre showing cult movies, a swimming pool, restaurants and café's with outside terraces, an open air market and lots more.
When you are staying in our house, you're in the very centre of Holland, and the Dutch sometimes refer to it as the Garden of Amsterdam. It's easy to see why: the area features lots of scenic and natural beauty. Use our bicycles to explore the expansive moorland, follow a walking trail through one of the mature woodlands or chill out on the waterfront at one of the terraces in picturesque Muiden. Visit the old village of Huizen, spend some money in the fancy shops of Laren or climb the church tower in Naarden Vesting to get a wonderful panoramic view of this fortified town. It's all minutes away from our home!
Getting to our house is easy, from Schiphol airport it's around 30 minutes by direct train and the nearest entrance to the freeway A1 (E30, directly to Germany) is about a 10 minutes drive from our house. Don't worry, you don't hear the trains or traffic in our house or garden; we like it quiet too!

About Our Family
We are Renske (54) and Jouko (55), a married couple with three children. Our main home is in The Netherlands, close to Amsterdam.
We both have our own company, Renske does projectmanagement for non-profit organisations and Jouko works on interim basis as a director on highschools.
Our oldest son Ole (20) is studying Mechanical engineering in Delft. Our middle son Lude (18) studies Architecture in Delft and our youngest son Josse (16) is in his final year at highschool.
We all like the outdoors, sports and water. With a visit to a big city once in a while for some cultural enrichment. We love staying in our second home in the Harz mountains in Germany, alternated with exchanges to see more of the world. We like making people happy with a stay in one of our houses: happy guests, happy hosts!
