Large, comfortable seaside home, access to London/ Brighton/ Rye/ Alfriston/ Lewes

'Wildfell' is a stunning 'Arts and Crafts' 4 bedroom home built for a high-court judge in 1929. Surrounded by garden on all sides, the house has been finished to a high standard and has very large, light-filled rooms, boasting some sea views from the bedrooms. There are loads of unusual/ quality features such as the original 'butler bell' system, gas fire, round bay windows, latch doors and parquet wood flooring. There are 2 bathrooms - a shower room and family bathroom as well as a downstairs WC. We have recently fitted a brand new luxury kitchen which is a huge open-plan living space.

Our Neighbourhood

Seaford is a sleepy, old-fashioned town with lovely cafes and a few restaurants, pubs and independent shops including butchers/bakers/fishmongers/clothes boutiques and second-hand shops plus supermarkets and take-aways including classic fish and chips. We live in an upmarket area with large detached houses and quiet roads. We have great views of Seaford Head (golf course and cliffs) and we are 10 minute flat walk from the town centre and about 15 minutes to the beach.

On our doorstep is the uncommercialised Seaford Bay (10-15 min walk from our house), the iconic Seven Sisters Country Park (one of England's most famous views featured in the film Atonement), two celebrated golf courses (one at the end of our road!), swimming pool, leisure centre, and the ancient village of Alfriston. Good road links, a 3 minute walk to a bus stop or 10 minute walk to the train station means you can be in the centre of buzzy city Brighton & Hove in about 30 minutes, the historic market town of Lewes in 20 minutes, the genteel resort of Eastbourne in 20 minutes and central London in 90 minutes. The ancient town of Rye, Hastings, Battle (1066 country) and Tonbridge Wells are all within an hour. Our nearest airport is London Gatwick which is 50 minutes by car or train and London Heathrow is about 1 1/2 hours away. We are also 5 minutes drive from the ferry terminal to France which is a 4 hour crossing.

About Our Family

Matt is a history teacher and Fiona is a marketing manager. They have been married for over ten years and have one son Edward and a daughter, Eleanor. We would love to travel more and we are very open to locations/ types of homes.

Lifestyle

We love relaxing at home, watching movies, reading in front of the fire, cooking great food and baking, dining in our garden with friends, playing with our children. In Seaford we love going to the beach - whether to swim in the summer, enjoy fish and chips or marvel at the waves when it is stormy. Other activities we enjoy in the town include going out to one of the cafes for breakfast or afternoon tea, going out for pasta or tapas, walking on Seaford Head or Seven Sisters, taking our children to something at the leisure centre (great soft play centre!), buying bits and bobs from the second hand shops or treats from the baker. Some of our favourite trips out of the town include the quaint village of Alfriston, lots of nearby country gastro pubs, the smart boutiques in Lewes, the chain stores in Eastbourne, the buzzy shops and nightlife of Brighton, further afield we love going to the ancient town of Rye or quirky Hastings or up to London for the sights of the capital.
