Cosy family-home in the heart of Germany

Our house was built in 1911 and was modernized and renovated when we moved in 2009. It's furnished in a crossover of modern and antique country style. The spacious ground floor with an open kitchen leads through a glassfront porch into a shady south garden. For cosy wellness evenings there are a small indoor-sauna and a wood stove. The bedrooms are on the first floor. Next to the parents' bedroom with a bed for two there are two children's rooms with two beds each. On the ground floor there is a guest room with a double-bed-sofa. A baby bed is available as well. On each of the two floors you find a modern bathroom with a shower and a tub (1st floor) or the sauna (ground floor). The house is situated in a green and quiet residential area in only ten minutes walking distance from the city center. A lake with a sports park and big fun and swimming pool are within 10 minutes walking distance as well (https://www.badeparadies.de). However, in Goettingen you usually don't walk but you take your bike along with the 25.000 students of Georg-August-University. In your case you take our bikes.
Goettingen is a historic university town of about 125.000 pretty much exactly in the middle of Germany. It was the academic home of the famous fairy tale writers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm as well as the Mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss. Due to the university students and a high rate of young families Goettingen is a very young and lively town with many attractions and events for families (http://www.goettingen-tourismus.de/index.php).
From here you can easily reach the Harz mountains - a low mountain range with a high recreational value (http://en.harzinfo.de). Due to Goettingen's central position within Germany you can reach the fair cites Kassel and Hannover by train within only 30 min., Frankfurt and Hamburg within 2 h and Berlin within 2,5h. The former inner-German border is only twenty minutes by car. Therefore our home is a perfect base for the step-by-step-discovery of Germany with some quiet and recreational time between your trips.
