We live in a calm area close to the city of Falun which is the largest city of beautiful Dalarna in the heart of Sweden. In Falun you can visit the famous copper mine. Falun has about 56 000 inhabitants and the city center is a small but beautiful. Here you can find shops, really nice restaurants and cafés. Falun is an old town. The year 2001, the city, the copper mine and mining areas of Falun were added to the list of world heritage sites by the United Nations, which means that the city is worth preserving, as it is considered to be of interest for all of humanity.

The World Heritage Site of Falun is more than just the mine itself – it also includes the whole of the surrounding countryside, the town with its historic red-painted blocks and the rural mining districts. There’s plenty for all the family to discover here. The lively town centre has many shops, as well as cosy cafés and restaurants.

Lugnet is the national ski stadium where the ski world championship has taken place a number of times, including the last one in 2015.

Falun forms, together with Borlänge which is the closest town, a metropolitan area with close to 100,000 inhabitants.

Dalarna is often called “Sweden in miniature” because much of the imagery of Sweden comes from Dalarna; a pretty red-coloured cottage by a glittering lake. In a forest glade lit by the evening sun, people in brightly coloured folk costumes dance and swirl in celebration of Midsummer. All very Swedish. All very Dalarna. The landscape is beautiful and perfect for hiking and mountain biking.

Southern Dalarna brings together most of the best of Dalarna and Sweden. Modern city life meets rich culture and fantastic nature experiences that will be remembered for a long time.

Close to our home you can go swimming in lake Stångtjärn (5 minutes drive) or in a pool with waterslides. (10 minutes walk). Perfect for the kids!
