Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Exeter - 30 miles

Rural neighbourhood with country lane going past our cottage. We have friendly neighbours in the cottage next door and there are a few other houses across the road. Some traffic sound at certain times of the day but this is minimal from the garden and inside the cottage. There is also the nostalgic sound of steam trains from across the river! A short walk to the river and country walks through the woods. There is a wild swimming place along the river from us - mentioned in the publication - Wild Swimming Walks Dartmoor and South Devon by Sophie Pierce.
We have two pubs near us and we can definitely recommend The Cott for good pub food in a historic, thatched building.
Dartington Hall is approximately 2 miles away - a beautiful medieval manor house with gardens, plus The White Hart restaurant and the Barn cinema!
Three miles from Totnes - a historic quirky town with a castle, plus lots of coffee shops and restaurants. Friday and Saturday markets in the main square.
Ten miles from the nearest coast - although we can recommend the nicest places a bit further away.
Ten miles from Dartmoor National Park - a great wild area of moorland with historic landmarks and good walks. We can recommend where to go for a good Devon Cream Tea!
A car is essential but we can agree car exchange. Totnes is approx. 3 hours from London by train. Nearest airports are Exeter - 30 miles or Bristol - 100 miles.
