Nice and cozy house in a quiet and green neighborhood in Amsterdam

We have a nice light and sunny house with a garden in Schellingwoude, a quiet neighbourhood in Amsterdam. It's a wonderful place to relax after an inspiring day in the hustle of Amsterdam. The house is located in a quiet village from where you can make beautiful walks and bike rides. Amsterdam's culture and shops can be easily and quickly reached by public transport or by bicycle. Within walking distance there is a supermarket with tasty local products and a restaurant, also for coffee and sandwiches.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Schiphol - 24 km

Schellingwoude is a small and picturesque village that belongs to the city of Amsterdam and lies in Amsterdam-Noord.
It has the advantage of a village - it is green, safe, quiet, friendly - and all the advantages of a big city: take a bike or get a bus (or a tram, or a metro) and it will take you in less then 20 minutes in the very heart of Amsterdam, with its beautiful canals, its museums (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, Stedelijk Museum, some really good photo museums), its nice shops and restaurants and so much more.
Or get a trip in our 'backyard'; the beautiful area called Waterland, walking or cycling is a remarkable experience in all weather. This flat polder landscape throws up moments that feel lost in time, as you encounter expansive fields and traditional Dutch farmers going about their everyday lives, as well as their old-style stolpboerderijen – farmhouses with unmistakable pyramid roofs. Visit small towns as Broek in Waterland, Volendam en Marken and go back in time.
Or visit the brand-new hotspots in Amsterdam-Noord (that's where we live), an inspiring and vibrant part of Amsterdam with unique architecture and a lot of cool restaurants, a gorgeous Filmmuseum and so much more.

About Our Family

My 18-year-old son (studying) and I (wife, 54, journalist and editor) live in quiet Schellingwoude, which offers the advantages of the city of Amsterdam that is close by and knows the coziness and safety of a village. My other 21-year-old son lives on the university campus 15 minutes away, so he comes along regularly.
