Need a break from all the hustle and bustle?
Dreaming of relaxing in the french countryside, then this is the house swap for you.
Come and enjoy the calm, stressfree way of life in La Creuse.
Our stone home was originally built in 1906. We made additions in 2017 with a ground floor bathroom, laundry, craft area and pantry area. We also paved the entire backyard and terrace and established a small veggie garden.
The first floor consists of 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a four poster queen size bed (160 × 200) and the other bedroom has a double bed (190 × 150).
They both have bedside tables and lamps and tables for luggage.
So a swap with a couple or perhaps 2 couples is preferred.
On this floor is also a large bathroom with a shower over bath arrangement, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.
There is also a large office with 2 desks and a bookshelf and large cube unit with board games, CDs and DVDs. We have very good wifi.
A large linen room with extra blankets, doonas, pillows, towels, ironing board, etc is located on the first floor.
On the ground floor, a kitchen with everything you need (except for a coffee machine as we like to go out for our cappuccino fix), lounge room with TV including Netflix and dining room with large doors opening to the front of the house. The house faces south so receives the beautiful French sun.
There is a slow combustion heater in the lounge room. We will provide plenty of wood and kindling in the barn.
In the new extension you will find an anteroom, a pantry, wine rack and craft area. As well as a fully equipped laundry including double trough, washing machine, dryer, couple of clothes airers and an extra fridge/freezer and another bathroom with shower, toilet and hand basin.
There is electric heating and fuel heaters throughout the house. Overhead fans are located in the kitchen, office and one of the bedrooms with extra pedestal fans if needed.
We have a beautiful terrace at the back of the house which has a shade, barbeque, tables and chairs.
You will require a car as there is no public transport - we would consider a car exchange depending on circumstances. Nearest amenities are 10kms away.
Also note- we do have an attic bedroom on the second floor (our bedroom ) that has a king size bed, bathroom including shower and bath and toilet, walk in robe, shelves, portable air conditioner which can be discussed if more room is required.
We also have an inflatable spa which is set up during the summer months.

Our village is very small with about 50 inhabitants. There are a number of secondaire maisons.
We are situated in a rural part of France where there are wonderful areas for walking (randonées/hiking). Many lakes and picnic areas. Lots of little villages to explore and not too far from the Central Massif where there's skiing at Le Mont Dore (about 1 and a half hours drive). Great area for eBiking.
The nearest amenities are 10 kms & 14kms away so you will need transport. You will find a supermarket, 2 boulangeries, 2 cafes and 2 restaurants, plus 2 pharmacies, doctors, post office, banks and tourist office in Gouzon. There is a small market each Tuesday. A larger village 14 kms (Boussac) has more restaurants, fantastic markets as well as the usual banks, post office, hairdressers, pharmacies, large health centre. Markets in Boussac are on a Thursday and definitely worth a visit.
There are many larger towns within or just over an hours drive such as Limoges (Porcelain capital), Montlucon, Gueret, Chateauroux (train station connection), Aubusson (tapestry capital). There are great market towns as well such as Felletin (Fridays), Argenton sur Creuse( Saturdays) Gargalisse (beau village), St Severe, Chambon sur Vouieze, La Chartre plus many more.
The church at Moutier d'ahun is a must to see as very unique.
Being in central France is handy also as you can be in many different countries in less than half days drive.
Our neighbours are all french and are just lovely and welcoming.
We have some wonderful English families in the next village over.
We have cows being herded past our kitchen window occassionally.
We had snow in our village on Christmas Day 2020 which was magical (especially for Australians that are used to it being 42 degrees on Christmas Day).

About Our Family
We will respond quickly to all requests.
We are a retired Australian couple living in La Creuse, France since 2016.
Bill 64, Information Technology Manager and Wendy 59, Online Communications. Married 38 years.
We are open to all destinations.
We are keen to receive home exchange requests. Open to short or long term swaps.
We can be flexible with the dates. We are non-smoking and extremely clean, tidy and considerate and will take great care of your property as we would expect of you with ours.
Our preference is to ensure we have a dedicated parking spot/area,
We would prefer to swap without pets to care for as we might be away from your home overnight for a few days depending on the swap.
Our house is not suitable for children.
Depending on the time of year, outdoor watering may be necessary.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you want more information or if you want to use Skype or What'sApp.
It's usually the 2 of us travelling.
We would love to receive a quick response from you if we send you a request to swap. Doesn't matter if it's negative or not. Or just to say you are thinking about it.
If you live in or near Noosa, Maleny, Montville or Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia and are dreaming of spending 1,2 or 3 months in rural France (where you can get to many other countries in a half days drive) and are keen for a swap, then please get in touch if you have a house or apartment. We would definitely be keen to swap cars as well. We have a 7 seater Grand Scenic. Our son and pregnant wife live in Conondale, hence these areas.
We are hoping to return early in 2022.
Happy to discuss options. Even if it were for a shorter period, if you are interested then please get in touch.
We are open to all dates and destinations and look forward to receiving requests to exchange and will respond quickly to any requests sent through. We would prefer a straight swap but happy to discuss options.
We are both vaccinated.
We are very clean, tidy, friendly, careful, non smokers and would look after your property as we would expect you to do with ours.
We have completed exchanges through other sites and have also completed many house sits.
We are keen to discover all types of places including mountains, rivers, lakes, big cities, small quaint places or rural areas.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
