We are very easy regarding the length of stay, so please reach out with your ideas and we can discuss :) we would probably just need a reasonable amount of notice, but we love a last minute trip too so ya never know

Tiny house in a small Andalusian village steeped in art, history and nature

Very small but charming duplex ideal for a single or a couple in a small village in Andalucia. The terraced house is built in the typical style of 'los pueblos blancos', the 'white villages', of the Andalucian mountains with thick stone walls and small wood-framed windows which keep the place cool in the summer. Downstairs there is a kitchen-living area which includes a fridge, two-hob cooker, microwave oven, and a high quality wood-burning stove for winter evenings. Upstairs consists of a bedroom with double bed and single daybed, and bathroom with shower. The house is simple and rustic, with alcoves in the walls for candles, wood fittings to the staircase and reed ceilings.

The setting of the house is the centre of Genalguacil, one of the many pueblos blancos in the mountains making up the Serranía de Ronda, and has been named one of the 100 'pueblos mas bonitos' - most beautiful villages - in Spain. Genalguacil is perched on a mountainside overlooking an incredible view of intersecting slopes which the setting sun illuminates every evening. It is well known for it's biennial art festival called Los Encuentros de Arte (Art Encounters) which invites artists from all over the world to spend two weeks in the village and produce site specific art which remains either in the streets or the art gallery. As a result, on most street corners and village walls one comes across a sculpture, painting or other artwork of some kind.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Malaga - 111km

Genalguacil is characterised by steep narrow streets paved with stone slabs. Everything is within walking distance of everything else. There are lemon trees growing throughout the village which neighbours are free to harvest from. There are several restaurants, including a vegan restaurant right below the house, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, a library and a swimming pool open during the summer. There is a farmers market on Tuesdays and a larger artisan's market on the first Saturday of each month. Vendors selling bread, fish and roast chicken and chips pass through the village once a week. There are bigger shops in the surrounding villages. The neighbours are all friendly and respectful.

There are quite a few good hikes accessible from the village and plenty more if you have a car, especially as some of the surrounding villages are stops on the extensive walking route called the Gran Senda de Ronda. About a ten minute drive away there is a swimming spot at the river Genal. Ronda, the nearest city, is an amazing place to visit, standing on the precipice of a deep ravine. Estepona is the nearest seaside town, an hour's drive away through Pinsapo pine forest.
