Comfortable rowhouse in a lovely brownstone neighborhood in Brooklyn NY near many amenities.
I live on the top 2 floors of my 3-floor Victorian "brownstone" rowhouse. My late husband and I bought this house in 1972 and raised our 2 children here. A few years ago I created a rental unit on the garden level, where a quiet and considerate tenant now lives. My front entrance is up one flight of stairs (called a "stoop" in Brooklynese). The kitchen, dining and living areas are on this middle floor, along with a "powder room" (sink and toilet). The two bedrooms, laundry room, and main bathroom are on the top floor.

Our Neighbourhood
Nearest Airport: LGA and JFK; Newark - LGA and JFK are each about 30 minutes by car service. Newark Airport is also fairly close, but more complicated to get to.
My neighborhood in Brooklyn is called Prospect Heights. My "brownstone" rowhouse is within walking distance of the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Central Brooklyn Public Library, the huge Prospect Park, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. A big plus is its close proximity to several subway trains (2, 3, B, Q) and 3 bus lines -- no car needed (and parking is difficult). A commercial street, Vanderbilt Avenue, is half a block away, with a nice grocery store and a choice of many restaurants. Other commercial streets cross the residential blocks in the neighborhood.

About Our Family
My late husband and I raised two children in this house. Grown up with families of their own, they now live elsewhere -- in San Francisco and in upstate New York. I have 4 grandchildren and visit them as often as I can.
I was a college humanities educator most of my career. Now retired, I stay busy with volunteer work, projects, tennis, book groups, friendships, and travel.
Lifestyle
I am a retired educator, now enjoying friends and family, travel, tennis, special projects, volunteer work, and reading.

BE50975We had the chance to meet Rosemary upon our arrival - we arranged a non-simultaneous exchange - and thus we were able to have a first-hand introduction to the house and meet our extremely friendly and considerate guest. The house is big and beautiful, full of history and memories, ideally located in the very heart of Brooklyn, with a big garden AND a terrace. We were very lucky to make this arrangement and be able to visit New York as locals. We are very very grateful!

US069796Rosemary was communicative and easy to work with, left my home tidy and followed all my requests for closing up upon her leaving. I would be happy to exchange with her again!
