Quintessential New England area: Two bedroom home with pool near river and ocean
Our home is located in the quaint little town of Stonington on the Conneticut shore, less than 100 yards from the Pawcatuck River, 5 miles to Stonington Harbor, about 10 miles to Rhode Island beaches. Great kyaking, sailing/boating, wineries, music, art and historic venues in close radius. The house has views of the Pawcatuck River (fishing and kayak launch are a short walk), lots of light, a built in pool, nice helpful neighbors. Located about 2+ hours from either Boston MA and NYC by car or train. Two train stations are close by: Westerly Rhode Island is about 3 miles away, Mystic Connecticut is about 7 miles away.

Nearest Airport: Providence PVI - 30 miles
Wonderful setting along the Pawtucket River, nature preserves abound, all varieties of on the water activities within 5 miles. Mystic Seaport museum, Mystic Aquarium, several historical venues within 5-50+ miles. Two Train stations within 3 or 8 miles away, destinations along northeast corridor via Amtrack (NYC, Boston). Downtown Westerly RI just 2 miles, Stonington Borough 5 miles, Misquamicut beaches about 10 miles, Newport RI, about an hour away. Many excellent restaurants, food shopping within 10 miles, some as close as 2-3 miles.
Hartford CT Bradley international airport is about 1.5 hours away, Boston Airports about 2.5 hours away. NYC airports 3+ hours. Frequent Traffic backups may extend times to all Airports.

About Our Family
We previously belonged to Intervac and had about 5 exchanges from our previous home in Western Massachusetts, then had to take a break because of work intensity and elder family care issues. We’re now over those hurdles and will both be retired in 2024 and plan to do more traveling. We love our new community on the southeastern coast of Connecticut, which is full of history and community activities. We have a sailboat and sail it out to Fishers Island Sound, Long Island Sound, Block Island, and other destinations. Stonington is a very ‘on-the-water’ active community, as well as having many land based attractions.
We have a small very well behaved and trained 11 year old Yorkshire terrier named Pinot. We’d like to have him travel with us to North America destinations if possible, otherwise he would spend our vacation time at a friend’s home. We have no children, so our home is acclimated for older children (approximately 10 years+) and adults of all ages. There are several steps to enter and exit our home, which might be challenging for people with mobility issues.
