Actually open with length of stay - the closer to my home in Hawaii, the shorter stay I can accept. Also open with dates since I am retired now with more free time.

2 months

A modern beach-side Hawaiian home in the countryside (North Shore, eastside) along the most scenic coastal road on Oahu Island [note: 2-3 person capacity but have an 8-person apartment on same property that can be swapped: vrbo# 835578]

Beautiful architect home (vaulted ceiling of hexagon-designed 2nd story floor overlooking the ocean and beach park) on family-owned half acre property directly fronting the Kokololio Beach Park and uncrowded sandy beach. Completely furnished with expansive windows, upscale furniture, California king bed (from Bali), 65" HDTV, cable & wireless internet. You also have a large, beautiful back yard to use (including picnic table). The garden and plants are another area of enjoyment for me (I treat it like a painting) and you might enjoy that during your stay. There's a lovely 300+ square foot covered lanai/porch with views of ocean & park on one end and tropical forest & mountain on other end (passing car traffic is noticeable while lounging on the lanai (now that there's more cars on the island) but, for most of us, that's balanced out by the unobstructed trade winds, view, and enjoyable tropical location - I spend many hours a day out there). Two small shopping centers within walking distance plus post office, bank, and gas station within a few minutes. Located on the eastern side of the famed North Shore close to Polynesian Cultural Center, Kualoa Ranch, and Turtle Bay Resort. Slightly further are Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay & Falls, Haleiwa, and Wailua beach towns. Depending upon the dates of your stay, you could be sharing the back yard with occasional vacationing families - I typically have had at least one 1-week holiday families each month over the past year. My housekeeper will be managing any potential renters and is also available to hire for your own cleaning.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Honolulu Int'l Airport - 1 hour

Our neighborhood is along the most picturesque coastal drive on the island near where Jurassic Park and other tropical island films were shot, having the most beautiful tropical mountain backdrops on one side of the coastal highway and the ocean on the other (at places close enough that the surf splashes up on the road). There are several townships within a few minutes of each other (at least two incorporated post offices). Our precise location is right between Laie and Hauula. Hauula is a very local town and Laie is a mix of local people plus the Mormons and all the South Pacific islanders who either attend BYU or work at the cultural center. There are two small shopping centers within walking distance plus post office, bank, and gas station within a few minutes. Located on the eastern side of the famed North Shore close to Polynesian Cultural Center, Kualoa Ranch, and Turtle Bay Resort. Slightly further are Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay & Falls, Haleiwa, and Wailua beach towns. Many water sport events are held throughout the year and on any given day the entire area is ideal for surfing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, and fishing.

About Our Family

It's just me! Although I might occasionally be accompanied by one friend or one family member. In addition to the joy I will have exploring various worldly locations, I will be considering the location as a second retirement home and potentially choosing a long-term rental or residential purchase there. And if really lucky, I'll become acquainted with musicians or tour agent for arranging Sinatra tribute concerts in the area.

Lifestyle

I am recently retired and free to spend more time at home, tending my garden, playing guitar, attending cultural & music events in the city of Honolulu as well as occasionally performing with Big 'swing' Band or combo as I sing the many Sinatra music charts that I own. I drive a Mustang convertible (and will never go back to 'hard-top'! - especially while living in such picturesque locations! I enjoy sitting at cafes for either coffee or maybe cognac. Mentally & spiritually I am liberal-minded politically and socially and over the decades have followed the philosophy of Taoism, Buddhism, and Zen as well as the golden rule, especially as Jesus prescribed. Authors that I have read: Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thoreau, Alan Watts, and other transcendental thinkers. I once even wrote a full-sized romance novel (after losing 'The Gal That Got Away' - BTW: that's a Sinatra song title).
