Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Schiphol - 22 km

Silodam is on the top of the city center, very close to central station. The famous Jordaan area is a 5 minutes walk. And those 5 minutes you walk, you go over the Prinsen and Bickers islands, both beautifull hidden treasures of Amsterdam city center. Very nearby you rent bikes, or the so called ‘whisper-boats’ (boats with electrical engines) so you can explore Amsterdam the way the Dutch do: either by bike or by boat. The great museums like the Van Gogh museum or the Rijks Museum are at the southern end of the city center: either a bike ride of 15 minutes, or you can take the tram at the central station. But don’t stop there. Go further then just Amsterdam. Harlem city has a beautiful center with the most lovely shopping street. Also the Zaanse Schans (just North of Amsterdam) is world famous for the number of working wind mills on a row you can visit. Urk and Monnickendam are both absolutely worth your time and energy, as they are both unique fishing villages as you have never seen before.

Hi, I’m Els, and I love to do city trips. Usually for a week or 2, so you can really explore the city. Museums, beautiful parks, lovely restaurants, and quaint shops are all there waiting to be explored. Oh, and I don’t smoke :)
