House in Provence, France

We live in a great place to go hiking or swimming.
Our house is in a valley called "vallée du Jabron", an area of outstanding natural beauty, hot in the day and cool at night (which means the house remains fresh).
There are a lot of restaurants, a beautiful citadel and two outdoor swimming pools in the historic town of Sisteron (a ten minutes' drive from the house). There are no shops in the small village where we live.

Our traditional - looking house includes a front garden and a back garden overlooking woods. It is possible to go for a walk leaving directly from the back garden. We always leave some information and maps for our Intervac friends to find nice walks in the area.
Depending on the month you are coming, you can swim in the Jabron or in a lot of other rivers, such as the Méouge
You can rent a kayak to have a trip on the river the Durance
visit Sisteron (a ten minutes drive), or the other very pretty villages around.
If you are sporty, a "via ferrata" is great:
or a "parc avecture":

The house was built in 2001.
It includes five bedrooms (two with a double bed, one with a double bed a sink and a shower, one with two single beds, one with a single bed), an office (with a big desk and a computer), a bathroom.
The view from all the windows is very nice.
There is a TV to watch dvds and play wi games (you won't be able to watch French channels yet because we do not have an antenna), and a good computer.
Outdoor, there is a children's climbing frame, swings, a sand pit and a small BBC.
I am allergic to cats but the children love them. We can exchange with a family with only one cat.

We propose to exchange cars. We have got a Berlingo with five seats and a big boot.

We have done two very nice exchanges; You may contact these members if you wish to have more information:
members with whom we exchanged: GBSE002479 and NL0238

I will describe the weather first: we live in Provence so the weather can be from warm to very hot.
We are in the Northern part of the Provence where the first mountains are, so the nights are cool.
That's why the house remains fairly cool during the summer.
We live in a valley called "vallée du Jabron." The Jabron is a river where people can swim (or rather jump in for fun).
There are very few inhabitants in this valley and it is a wild and preserved place with beautiful hikes to do.
The people who spend some time here in the summer say they love hiking in the morning and having a swim in the evening (in the river or the swimming-pool).
It is also pleasant to visit touristic places such as museums, religious sites... (We can send you some brocures)
The nearest town (8 kms)  is called Sisteron.
In this town, there is a swimming-pool and a "plan d'eau", a famous citadell to visit and an interesting old town.
The area is famous for its climbing possibilities in natural surroundings.
It is also a touristic place and there are a lot of concerts, theater plays... in the summer.
There is a market twice a week, some shops and restaurants, one cinema.

There are three famous national parks (preserved areas) in the area where we live (an hour's drive):

Parc des Ecrins
Parc des Gorges du Verdon
Parc du Lubéron

the nearest city on the seaside is probable Toulon or Marseille. They are two hours drive from Bevons.
