One-story house in pleasant park in south west France.

We are a sixty/seventy year old couple. I am a retired university lecturer and my husband is a retired army officer. Our 32 year old son and his friend might join us for a week during the holidays.

Tarbes is a pleasant provincial town (60000 inhabitants) with very good restaurants, a lovely park (Jardin Massey and its museum), cathedral and good shops. Apart from "the halles", there is a large market every Thursday.

The neighbourhood is very quiet and we live in a pleasant and large architect designed house with swimming pool, park (2500 m2) and small river, in the suburbs of Tarbes, south of Toulouse, and not far from the Atlantic Ocean: Biarritz is an hour and a half away by car, and Lourdes and the Pyrenees are respectively 20km away and 40 km away. Spain is not far and twice a year, we visit the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao with its fabulous exhibitions. Toulouse is one hour and a half away by car, and Bordeaux 2hours and a half away, it's a superb city and its vineyards are spendid to visit too.

There's a lot to do and the Pyrenees attract French and foreign tourists: Pau, Auch, the Pic du Midi, Gavarnie and Cauterets are very popular destinations.

You also have a very convenient and huge supermarket 10 minutes away with a large mall where you can find everything from cinema to garage, hairdresser's, bookshop, clothes' shop to excellent and fresh food.

There's WIFI in the house and it has a large ground floor (130 m2) with kitchen, (all appliances), sitting room and dining room opening on to the terrace, laundry room + a large study/bedroom (double bed) and separate bathroom (bath and shower) + a library/computer room stocked with books. Upstairs there's the TV room and three bedrooms, two with double beds + bathroom (bath and shower). There are separate toilets upstairs and downstairs. The house is very pleasant and sunny in the summer time as it opens on to the garden.

We love art in general and painting and literature more particularly. We are also interested in architecture and are crazy movie-goers. On holidays, we like to be near the sea or a lake or in a large city.
We have one white she-cat, . She needs to be fed daily and a bit cuddled.
We can send many other pictures of our house, of the kitchen, bedrooms etc. if you wish.
When our two boys were younger, we made 6 exchanges altogether. That was 20 years ago, and we didn't keep record of them. We decided to renew our membership in 2012, and in the summer we exchanged with a Swiss family: it was a really wonderful experience which made us want to go on exchanging houses! In summer 2014, we exchanged with a family from Edinburgh, in 2015, with a Swedish family, in 2016 with a Norwegian family and in 2017 with a family from Montreal; the five of them were real successes.
I must add that the house is not suitable for young children because of the swimming pool and the small river: it's only a brook really but it could be dangerous for a small child.
Of course, we wouldn't mind taking care of a cat!
There are three convenient airports near by: the nearest is Tarbes/Ossun/Lourdes, 10' from our house. Then you have Pau airport, which is an hour-drive, and finally Toulouse airport, 2 hours away if you want to be on the safe side.
