Our Neighbourhood

Our house is in the heart of the famous "Peak District National Park" with a super exposition and stunning views up to "Win Hill". We are situated next to Ladybower and Derwent reservoirs; these are the training grounds for the famous "Dambusters" run in World War II and one can often see various aircraft fly through the valley. Its 5 mins to World class gritstone climbing! Our village is extremely calm yet only 25 minutes by car to sheffield city centre and 50 minutes to manchester airport. The interior of the house is a blend of "old world" charm with lots of original features yet with contemporary decor. The house has a multi fuel burner for cosy winter nights and open fireplaces in 2 of the 4 bedrooms upstairs. We have added a conservatory which has created extra space and fine views towards the valleys. The kitchen is new and we have added a large extension to create more space and light; it is well equipped with a rangemaster. The garden has a range of roses, flowers and plants as well as a trampoline. We are 5 mins from the grave of the legendary "little John" (friend of Robin Hood). This area is superb for visiting caverns (the 'devils arse'), hill walking (Kinder Scout in Edale), rock climbing (Stanage Edge, Bamford Edge, Frogatt Edge etc), Mountain biking and we also have numerous cosy country pubs nearby. The area is also excellent for bird watching and if you fancy negociating peat bogs and seeing 'reclaimed' aircraft from WW2 near Bleaklow then this area is for you!  It is very close to Chatsworth Country Estate and the spa town of Buxton. A visit to the Bakewell Pudding shop is a must whilst looking up to Stanage Edge was the setting for the film "Pride and Prejudice." Its Jane Austen country as well as a mecca for Climbing!
