Spacious house in North London, Great Britain

We live on a pleasant, quiet, residential road in Crouch End which is a middle-class, family-friendly neighbourhood in north London.

We have a spacious three/four-bedroom family house with a delightful, large back garden. Downstairs, the kitchen-dining room is large and light with a fully equipped, modern kitchen. The comfortable large lounge has a piano and a working fireplace (wood is available). Upstairs are three bedrooms and a large bathroom with shower and bathtub. In the very large master bedroom there is a double bed; the second bedroom has two, full-size bunk beds and there is a third bedroom with a single bed. (The lounge downstairs has a double sofa-bed and can act as a fourth bedroom.)

We are a family of five, Sue and David are both teachers and Joe, Laura and Daniel are 12, 10 and 7 respectively. Our latest addition to the family is Fizz a sweet and friendly little black-and-white cat who would appreciate your care, if possible. We love to explore new places, hiking, cycling, swimming and beach holidays, enjoying nature and relaxing in the garden or around a log fire in winter. We have also enjoyed city breaks in interesting cities in the UK and abroad. We are reasonably experienced exchangers with about 10 swaps so far in the UK and abroad..

Our Neighbourhood

The bustling centre of trendy Crouch End is a 5-10 minute walk away with three or four convenient small supermarkets but also many independent shops: several bakers, two independent butchers, delis, fruit and veg, a bookshop, a gallery or two and dozens of independent cafes. Restaurants of many varieties from Malaysian and Vietnamese to fine French, Italian and Thai food as well as tapas, pizzas, fish-and-chips and ice-cream parlour and a gastro-pub or two. There are also many convenience shops within a couple minutes of the house and a farmers' market nearby every Sunday. A brand new arthouse cinema and performance centre is 2 minutes' walk from our house and a pretty, child- and dog-friendly park is 5 minutes in the other direction. In other words, there is plenty to keep you occupied in Crouch End.

However, our house is also a great base from which to explore the delights of North London - close by are Alexandra Palace, Kenwood House and grounds and the lovely old London "villages" of Hampstead (with its shops and fabulous Heath for walking, kite-flying and relaxing) and Highgate (with its historic centre and famous cemetery). You can also walk in Highgate or Queen's woods, the latter being twenty minutes on foot from our house.

Last but by no means least, if you want to visit the many exciting museums, theatres, and other attractions of central London, then Crouch End has excellent transport links. The nearest train station is Hornsey (7 mins' walk, which also has a rapid link to Cambridge). There are 3 tube stations about 10-15 mins away by convenient buses which stop a minute or two from our house. From these youcan reach central London within another 15 minutes. However, the "scenic route" is via the double-decker 91 bus which links Crouch End directly to central theatres, Trafalgar square, the National Gallery and the Thames. There is also a nearby overground link to Richmond and Kew Gardens. Don't hesitate to ask us if you have particular questions about visiting London.
