Victorian 2 storey house in Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland

Our house dates from 1887, it is Victorian but we have refurbished it so it has all the modern comforts you need. We have retained all the traditional features so it oozes charm.
Downstairs there is a sitting room where we light fires most evenings , it is very cosy; a kitchen/dining area which has a gas stove for instant heat; a sunroom/playroom which is warm and relaxing in the summer; a toilet/cloakroom and a patio garden which is a lovely suntrap.
Upstairs there is the main bathroom with shower and bath,a large bedroom with a single bed that converts to king size, a double room with a  single bed and a third room with a bunk and single bed. We also have an attic room with a double bed which has lovely views of the harbour/sea and mountains.
The house is only a two minute walk from a small, tranquil harbour where you can see the swans and ducks and book a sailing course or have a nice breakfast or lunch in the Boatyard Cafe. Beside that is the famous "Harbour Bar" where you can have a pint of Guiness and a snack, voted "the best bar in the world" according to the lonely planet guide. There is both traditional music and live rock/pop music there every weekend and most nights in the summer.
Bray has always attracted artists, writers and musicians. James Joyce wrote "The Dead" in a house beside the harbour and Oscar Wilde's principal residence is now The Strand Hotel on the seafront. One of Irelands greatest artists Paul Henry lived here along with U2,Hozier, Sinead O'Connor and Van Morrison even partied in our house many years ago.
There is also a beautiful victorian promenade with both sandy and pebble beaches ,about 1km long, which leads to Bray Head. From there you can walk along the coast to Greystones, a stunning walk along the cliff edge which takes about 1 hour at a leisurely stroll. The promenade is lined with a variety of bars and restaurants.
Ardmore Film Studios are also in Bray, across from where Sean Connery lived whilst filming Zardoz, their films include Braveheart, Excalibur, The Commitments and My left Foot. There is a film trail that can be followed through the county.
We are a 2 minute walk from the train station which brings you to the heart of Dublin city in 35/40 minutes. You can drive there in 20- 30 minutes.
There are shops big and small all within a 2-5 minute walk from the house so you have every amenity within easy reach.
You can drive to Enniskerry in 10 minutes where you will find the Powerscourt Gradens and Waterfall, in 20 minutes you will be at Mount Usher Gardens, awarded the most beautiful gardens in Europe and in 25 minutes you will be at Glendalough where there is a beautiful lake and monastic site and where there is a great walk if that interests you.
No surprise that County Wicklow is known as the "Garden of Ireland".

We recently refurbished our victorian home so it is clean and comfortable of about 1600 sq feet. There is a golf course across from our house and a local bowling green, horse riding and water sports school.. Ronan is a Geography/PE teacher and Aisling a Yoga Teacher/ Translator, we have a 14 year old daughter (Eve) and a ye10ar old son (Jude). We would like to do a summer exchange in Barcelona or Seville. And are also looking to exchange for weekends throughout the year in Paris/Rome/Amsterdam/Berlin/Barcelona or Antwerp. Open to all offers.

Bray is a big town with a small community feel on the outskirts of Dublin (25-30 minute drive), or 35-40 minutes by train, and the edge of County Wicklow, otherwise known as The Garden of Ireland for its beautiful landscape foliage and flowers. It is a Victorian town with still much of the Victorian architecture intact and was once very popular as a destination for honeymooners and holidaymakers from the UK. We live a 2 minute walk from the sea which has a beautiful harbour and promenade, very popular at the weekends for families from Dublin. There is an abundance of award winning bars, cafes and restuarants along the seafront with plenty of space for cycling, skateboarding and walking and swimming on a warm day. There are plenty of shops both for food, clothing and souvenirs, a theatre and cinema and lots of available activities if you like sailing, watersports, golf or horse riding. Dublin city is easily accessed by train ( a 2 minute walk from our house) or by car and if you like the countryside, Wicklow is one of the most beautiful counties in Ireland with mountains, lakes and forests a plenty.
