Boathouse in Fishing Point, Australia

Our home is right on the waterfront on the western side of Australia's largest coastal lake. You are welcome to use the extensive gardens.
Separate to the house is our Boathouse. We have completely re-built our boatshed right at the waters' edge, and turned it into a 30 square-mtr "boathouse" studio with a separate bathroom. You can sit at the wide windows and eat your meals looking out at the lake only metres away. It has a double bed and 2 single-size bunk beds. The kitchenette has a 4-burner electric hotplate, under-bench fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, and lots of cooking equipment and crockery It is especially well-equipped with wine glasses! I would live there if I didn't have so much accumulated memorabilia from over the years! You can wake up to beautiful sunrises and walk a few steps out onto your own terrace, into the water to swim, or fish at the jetty right at your door.

Our home is on the shores of Lake Macquarie, Australia's largest coastal lake. It is more than 8 times the size of Sydney Harbour. You can swim or fish from our private sandy beach or our jetty. The lake is a very popular sailing venue and there are several yacht clubs nearby, and regular races to watch.
Newcastle is 40 minutes away by car or bus, and Sydney is 90 minutes away by road, and 2 hours by train. The main highway connecting the east coast of Australia is 10 minutes away. The quaint villages of Wangi Wangi and Rathmines are a few minutes away. Both have walks and bike tracks along the beautiful foreshore. You can find waterfront cafes and a larger supermarket in Toronto village 8 minutes away. Newcastle is an interesting port city with fantastic surfing beaches and restaurants, cliff walks and rock platform swimming pools.
The vineyards of the Hunter Valley are about 40minutes drive through farming countryside. Numerous art galleries, cafes/restaurants and beautiful gardens & villages are also in the vineyard area, not to mention superb wines (but I am biased!). Further afield are the historic townships of Morpeth, Lorn and Stockton. Stockton is a $2 ferry ride across the mouth of the Hunter river from Newcastle city. You can walk around it in an hour or so and have a coffee at Lexi's On The Beach.
Newcastle airport is about 50minutes away.
