Authentic House in Center of Bruges, called 'Venice of the North'. Amsterdam only a 3h and Paris 3h20min drive!
Our house is built in 1909 but it has recently been renovated which transformed it into a house with a modern but warm touch and loads of sunlight . We live only 500 meters from one of Bruges' entrance gates which brings you within a 10 minutes walk to the centre. Bruges really is a fairytale town. It's so nice to walk along the canals or bike across the picturesque bridges. (please check www.brugge.be for more information and pictures). No big distances in Bruges or less interesting areas to cross.
There's not only Bruges but we're really close to the coast (15-20 minutes by car).
Also there are other nice towns/cities nearby like Ghent (35 min), Brussels (1 h), Antwerp (1,2 h), Ypres (40 min.), Damme (10 min.).
And outside Belgium, there's gorgeous Amsterdam (3 h) and of course, the Queen of Beauty, Paris (3h20 min)!
All time schedules above are by car. But public transport is very easy and wellspread in Belgium.
For example, Paris is reachable by highspeed train: Brussels-Paris is only 1h22min!
We had four wonderful home exchanges: July 2013 in Spain (Cataluna), August 2013 in France (Brittany) and February 2014 in Venice (Italy), August 2014 in Piemonte (Italy).
There's three of us living in the house. My name is Beatrijs, 38 years old. I'm a music teacher and guitar player (for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3LnfU_MwBs, recorded in my livingroom). My daughter Yumi is 15 and my son Tycho is 13. My partner, Philippe, is a musician of historical and ethnic string instruments. Philippe and I don't live together but we do travel together the two of us and sometimes it's just me and my children.
We would do all we can to please your wishes.
And we will take good care of your home and stuff and treat it even better than we would do with our own stuff.
We have a rabbit which lives freely in the yard but needs food and water.
And also a few plants should get some water.
Well, let's help each other to explore the world.

Known as the Venice of the North, Bruges is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe!
It was a justified motive that prompted UNESCO in 2000 to include the entire historical city centre on the World Heritage list. Walking along the maze of winding cobbled alleys and romantic canals, you imagine yourself to be in medieval times. The wealth of museums is a striking image of this city's stirring history.
Bruges is also home to contemporary culture, such as the new Concert Hall, which is one of the most prominent music complexes in Flanders.
The restaurants in Bruges which offer gastronomic cuisine are a true feast for those who enjoy the good things in life.
