We sold our home in Florida, and won't be doing any further exchanges with it.

Our beautiful, spacious home, with 10 foot ceilings in the living room, is on a canal in a quiet neighbourhood near all the shopping amenities anyone would want. We're 20 minutes from a beach, and you can arrive via a number of airports; Punta Gorda is the closest, and there's also Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples within an hour. (Tampa's slightly further.) Lots of golf courses in the area. The house wraps around a lanai and a pool, with beautiful nature across the canal. We have a dishwasher, washer and dryer, reasonable tv reception, three bedrooms, two bathrooms. We don't have internet and there's no car available.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Punta Gorda - 25 minutes

This is a quiet neighbourhood, with a country feel, and still convenient to amenities by car. Sarasota, with its world famous Siesta Key Beach, is 30 minutes away. There are great beaches, fishing, kayaking, and many natural parks in the area. There's lots of shopping and good restaurants as well, all reasonably priced. This is a great location to relax in good weather, and watch the sun set over the trees as you sit by the pool after supper.

Our home is a quiet retreat; we're on a canal that has only a few houses to the end in one direction, so there's virtually no boat traffic on it. Across the canal is wilderness --- it's actually lots that nobody has built on. We spend a lot of time in the lanai, having most of our meals there, enjoying being outside in a most comfortable climate.

My favorite beach is North Jetty, in Nokomis, about a half hour drive. It's small, unbusy, friendly, and has a snack bar with good food, beer and wine. Mineral Warm Springs is near our home, and is a retreat setting.
Venice, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples are all interesting places to visit, and Punta Gorda, right over the bridge, has a great downtown with wonderful restaurants, book store, live theatre, one day adult courses, and Fisherman's Wharf. Port Charlotte is a retail center, I would say, with a mall and lots of smaller stores and restaurants along Tamiami, Route 41. The Tampa Rays have their winter home here, and the baseball is great.
