Family house near Lucerne/Switzerland

We live in a duplex house in Wolhusen, about 28 kilometers away from the beautiful town of Lucerne and close to the mountains. Our house is perfect for a (big) family: we have a spacious house and a garden with a trampolin, a sandbox, a small slide and a swing.

Behind our house nature begins... there are many places to go for a walk and say hello to cows and sheep. Wolhusen is close to the UNESCO biosphere Entlebuch (http://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/unesco-biosphere-entlebuch.html), a wonderful region where you can walk, hike, bike and visit cultural events. It's a rustic area with mountains, farms and lots of cows - just like on the postcards of Switzerland;)

The town of Lucerne is typically Swiss because it encompasses all the merits of our country: the city, the lake and the mountains. It offers an outstanding diversity. You have cultural events like festivals, concerts at the KKL (Culture and Convention Centre Lucerne) or many museums (for example: the transport museum or the Rosengart museum with paintings of Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Klee...). Lucerne has also beautiful buildings and historic sights which have survived for centuries. Probably the most famous sight is the Chapel bridge, who was constructed first half of the 14th century as a part of the city’s fortifications.

However, what we like most about Lucerne is the magnificent landscape. You can stroll along the quays, look at mount Pilatus (our "home mountain"), swim in the lake or enjoy an excursion with the old steem boats. See also www.luzern.com

Wolhusen is close to the mountains. Within an our, you reach many different places to start an excursion, for example the cable car station from where you can go up to mount Pilatus. One of our favourite places is Engelberg with its mountain Titlis. It takes you about one hour to go there by car (www.engelberg.ch).

To visit the towns of Bern, Zurich or Basel, you need about one hour by car or train.

In our village Wolhusen, there is a "tropical house". Beside a farm, there is a huge glass house in which bananas, mangos and papaya are breeded. It has also a superb restaurant. www.tropenhaus-wolhusen.ch.
