Family home in Solothurn, Switzerland
Open for spring and autumn 2020 - looking for a big house for a big family.
We live in a charming small town situated on the foot of the Jura mountains. Zurich, Bern, Basel and Lucerne can be reached within one hour by car or by public transport.
Our home is a bright detached house built in the 1940s, completely renovated in 2011 and well maintained. There is a spacious living room / dining room / kitchen and the master bedroom on the ground floor. The upper floor offers three bedrooms with a total of six beds. We have got a lot of games, books (in German, English and French) and a piano. Baby facilities (cot, two high chairs, changing table) are available. In the cellar, a table to play tabletop football and a dartboard will shorten long evenings and rainy days.
We keep our home very neat and tidy. We take care of our stuff and guarantee to treat your property with respect.
The garden provides a wooden tower with swings and a sand pit and plenty of hiding places. It is completely fenced. If you come around in summer or autumn, we would be happy if you water our garden. In return, you can harvest vegetables, salads and all kind of berries.
Our Dacia Lodgy offers 7 places. Four children seats and a baby seat are available.
To discover the surroundings by bike, there are four adult bicycles (two of them electric) and several children’s bikes plus a trailer for two kids. There are numerous bike trails in the neighbourhood, also flat ones, e. g. at the board of the river Aare.

Lifestyle
During our first home exchange in 2013, one of our tasks was to keep three Dutch hens alive. This turned out to be easier than we have feared and on the whole much more fun than we had imagined. After managing successfully to care for these hens, we started thinking about keeping some on our own, and meanwhile, seven hens live in our garden and provide us with fresh eggs. They need some food and water every day, but we can organise someone else if you plan to be absent for a longer period.
During our subsequent exchanges, we took care of cats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, fish and a pot full of tadpoles. We don't have a small zoo yet, but two friendly tomcats moved in 2019.
