Cosy familyhouse with small garden close to city center and forest
We live in a very charming semi-detached house half, build in 1927, latest renovations carried out through the past years.
Even though we live only about 15 minutes’ walk from the city centre, it is a peaceful and friendly neighbourhood, also closely related to a couple of parks, local centres and marketplaces, even the forest is in comfortable walking distance. Thanks to a broad offer on public transport and every-day-shopping, the infrastructure of our quarter is excellent. For most matters within the city or even the vicinity, you may well choose a bike or even walk, rather than take the car.
Aachen (with appr. 250.000 inhabitants), the capital of the Frankish empire in the 8th century, now hosts of one of the most important technical universities in Germany. It is a very historic and due to approx. 45.000 students also very modern city in the very centre of Europe. Its cathedral, the Dom, e.g. dates from 800 p.c. and is Germans first UNESCO Heritage. Aachen is also very well known for its hot thermal springs, the horse show CHIO (Concours Hippique International Officiel), even very good shopping facilities and the vicinity to the neighbouring countries Belgium and The Netherlands. The cities of Cologne (Germany), Liège (Belgium) and Maastricht (Netherlands) are about an hour away by train or car and it takes less than half an hour to cross the border to Belgium or the Netherlands. There are also widely stretched forests such as the "Nationalpark Eifel" or the "Hohe Venn" that may invite you to a daily nature trip along small river stretches in a hilly nature setting.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Düsseldorf - one hour
Aachen is an old and lively university town within the heart of Europe, directly next to the frontier of Belgium and the Netherlands. Cologne is a 40 min drive, Brussels or Amsterdam a 2 to 2,5 hrs drive and even Paris is accessible in less than 3 hours by train !
Our house is part of a garden settlement that was built in the early 20th century. Nowadays it is still situated in a quiet neighbourhood but also in walking or bike distance to a minor centre with shopping facilities and cafés, to the main train station or even the very centre of Aachen with its bright variety of cultural and shopping offers.
On the other hand, it is only a short walk into the greenery and parks and further on into one of Aachen’s major forests that stretches as far as Belgium and the Netherlands.
If you like being outside, you'll like it!
