House in Ryslinge, Denmark

We have just renewed our membership after a few years off, so we need to edit the writings in here. Please write a note if there are any questions.

Welcome to our house
We are John and Lotte.
We live in an old farmworkers house from 1850. (app. 210 sqm). We have lived here for 12years. We are still in the the middle of restoration of the house. As we do not have very much time to do it, we still have a lot left to do. The upstairs rooms, the dining room and the living room are done. We like to think of us as living rustic  :-) .
We live in the country side. Very quiet and very beautyful. Our house is just out side the forest. The forest being in the direction north. So the garden is nice and sunny all day long. There are severel nice routes for walking or biking in our neighbourhood. (and in most of the very beautyful and picturesque south of Fyn http://www.sydfynskeoehav.dk/indexEN.php  )
In the garden we have a tree to climb, and a barbecue. There is also a very small pond. We can cover it,  so you don't have to worry about your small children. As the forest is right beside us, there is lots of space to play in. We also have some toys/games for the garden.
We are interested in going almost any where in Europe. Though we do like to go and have a swim, so it would be very nice if, not too far away from the house, there are some kind of water where it is possible.
We look forward to hear from you.

Our Neighbourhood

  • forest Forest of Ravnholt (0.2 km)
  • shopping Dagli' Brugsen (1.6 km)
  • golfing Midtfyns golfclub (7.6 km)
  • beach "our" beach - Nyborg strand (28.3 km)

Our neighbourhood is the forest and fields. If you like walking/running or to ride the bike, (we think) you could not be a better place. Our part of Fyn and going south is very beautyful. Roads are narrow and twisted and you find a lot of old cottages and estates. The soil on Fyn is very rich, so estates are almost on "every corner". Some of them very pretty, like miniature castles. When you get closer to the sea, going south, the landscape gets very hilly. In danish terms that is.

In Ryslinge just down the road - 1½ -2 km -  you find two grocery stores, a bakery.  Easy to reach on a bike or by foot. 5 km away in Ringe you find more stores to chose between. There are 6 grocery stores and some nice shops to browse through. In Ringe there is also an indoor swim bath and mini golf. Just on the other side of Ringe there is a pay and play golf course, and one kilometer futher out there is a real golf course/club.

If you want more shopping you can go to Odense or Svendborg.

Odense is where you find the house of H.C.Andersen
http://www.fyrtoejet.com/UK/aarstider.php ,

a very nice zoo

and a museum of trains

In Svendborg there is Naturama (modern natural history)
http://naturama.dk/_en/information/index.asp ,
and a lot of shopping in the old center of the town.
Also you get ferries to a lot of the small islands placed south of Fyn.

Near by  - 10 km - is also Egeskov castle. A very nice place to go specially as a family with children. If you have any fancy for old cars and motorbikes, likes to play on a very very big (Kompan)playground, don't mind getting lost in a labyrinth, like dolls or maybe you like to take a stroll round some very beautiful gardens or maybe in the top of the threes, that's the place you want to go. Bring a picnicbasket you can easily spend the whole day there.

In July they have extended visiting also wedensday night. Then they have special treats for the guests as music or other performances. And when darcness comes it also gets rather spooky.

If you are into art, Fyn is the right place to be. http://www.fyn.dk/article/34552

We also have a very popular marinebiological center called Fjord og Baelt centeret, with in ½ hours drive. http://www.fjord-baelt.dk/page.asp?objectid=356&zcs=212

Or you can go in canoe on Odense å. I'm afraid this address is only danish http://kajens.dk/?pageID=MDAxMQ==

If you like climbing you can go here Gorilla Park http://gorillapark.dk

If you want to go to Copenhagen it's a 1½ -2 hour drive in car (depending on which part of the area you want to go to) or you can take the train from Ringe. In fact a lot of, Danish attractions are situated whith in an 2 hours car drive.

And of course there is Legoland
http://www.legoland.dk/en/  also nearly 2 hours.

Or BonBonland another theme park http://www.bonbonland.dk/home-uk/

If you want to go to the sea there is about 25 km. There is a lot of places to chose between as we have the same distance wether going east, south-east or south. On the map you can see which beach we prefer.
