House in small town close to STRASBURG,

This is a two-storey house in a very quiet neighbourhood in VENDENHEIM, a small town of 5 500 inhabitants, 8 km north of STRASBURG, the seventh biggest French city, well-known as one of the three “capitals” of the European Union –with Brussels and Luxemburg- seat of the European Parliament, and many other EU institutions, and also seat of the Council of Europe. As it simply defies description in a few lines, I would recommend browsing through its official website.

Our Neighbourhood

You will find absolutely everything in the surroundings....except the sea !
The town of Vendenheim boasts an astonishing number of societies and associations and a wide range of shops and services, together with, on its outskirts, one of the biggest American-style shopping districts in the country.
The house is part of the modern buildings put up as an ongoing extension of the ancient village core of traditional Alsatian wattle- and- daub half-timbered houses and farms. To the west lies the vast expanse of very fertile Kochersberg fields with a number of charming farming villages where excellent produce can be bought in farm shops. To the north extends the vast "sacred" forest of Haguenau and to the south the splendid city of Strasburg, a gem of art and culture, which is a stone's throw from Kehl in Germany, just across the Rhine. And of course you have a choice of mountain ranges to hike in : the Vosges on one side of the Rhine Valley, and the Black Forest on the other, German, side. Last but not least, vineyards are all over the place, from North to South, along the famous Alsatian Wine Route. Winegrowers will welcome you to their cellars and you will enjoy tasting local food and wine in city "winstubs" or mountain inns.. How about enjoying a glass of delicious Gewürtztraminer with a generous chunk of that inimitable cheese from the Munster Valley in the High Vosges, so aptly named Munster cheese ? But this paradise on earth offers beer as well as wine ! Small breweries scattered across the region make excellent beer, light or strong..
