Nice accommodation in Southern France, in Drôme Provençale (villa ground floor)
I exchange the ground floor of a lovely villa in Nyons, in the Drôme Provençale. My living area is 74sq metres, comprising a living room, kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms (with the main bedroom opening onto a strip of lawn), a study room and utility room. My guests and I have access to the swimming pool from July 14th to early September. Kids under age though are forbidden near and in the pool unless under strict supervision from their parents.
Fast wi-fi connection available.
The master bedroom faces South and opens onto a small lawn. It has a double bed, built-in wardrobe and mirrored wardrobe.
The second bedroom facing West and giving onto a roofed over passage has an oldish walnut chest of drawer. It is the coolest room in the summer.
Next to this is the study room, very bright, with a south-west facing window giving onto the landlord's swimming pool.
The living room offers a cherry TV cabinet with music system, an oak writing desk, a dining table, a wrought iron sofa and couch (that can sleep two people).
The kitchen is smallish, but fully equipped. It can seat three people easily, but the patio or the living room will offer more space for regular meals. There is an electric oven, a three-ring gas cooker plus an electric hob, a dishwasher, a fridge and freezer.
The utility room is equipped with a brand new state-of-the art washing machine and clothes drying machine.
There is plenty of parking place both at the foot of the villa and at house level.
I often welcome hosts from France or abroad in my home for short stays, as I am a member of a SERVAS-like organisation, called « La Route des Sels » (literally the « LET'S » road, LET'S for Local Exchange Trading System).
You'll find everything you need in my place but the whole setup is no-frills, while being quite functional.
On the other hand you will be surprised and delighted by the very quiet and mediterranean feel of the surroundings. There are plenty of walks to choose from when you step out of the house. The area abounds in olive fields, vineyards, apricot orchards and pine groves. But essentially you will be invited to luxuriate in the sunny weather througout the summer months and discover the many historic places in the area : Nyons (5 kms away, renowned for the quality of its olive oil and the mildness of its climate), Vaison la Romaine (with its roman amphitheatre and vestiges), Grigan (with Mme de Sévigné's Château), Valréas, all places 20 min's drive away. A little farther away - 1h to 1h30's drive- are Orange (with its famous roman amphitheatre), Avignon (celebrated for its Popes' Palace and summer art & drama festival), Montpellier, le Pont du Gard (roman aqueduct) … The mediterranean is only 2 hours' drive away.
My house offers plenty of opportunities to simply enjoy a resting holiday or be used as a base for discovering the treasures of the Drôme Provençale or the Rhône Valley.
