Our Neighbourhood

We live in an area of outstanding natural beauty and everything is 5 minutes from our house, the beach, which is three miles long is great for swimming and very clean. We live across the road from a 1, 500 acres forest park called Tollymore. It is so beautiful and offers many walking routes from 3km- 20 km, it has a river and lake in the park and many picnic areas. Two miles away is the town of Castlewellan whic has another forest park which has a beautiful lake which you can walk or cycle aaround about 3 miles around. The Castle is overlooking the lake and has a public garden which can be visited.Castlewellan is a small town which is tree lined and has two old market squares.
Newcastle is the largest local town and is a very popular tourist destination in summer, it is on the beach and the mountains tower above the town making it very beautiful. All along the coast there are lovely villages and towns which can be visited.
There are several playparks in Newcastle and in summer there is a open air sea water pool and a public pool with slides for children, these are opened in July and August. We have many lovely restaurants in the town also.
There is so much to see and do in the local area that you may not get the chance to go too far. If You do we are only 140 km from the Giants Causeway and the North Coast. We are 1 hour 40 from Dublin City and linked in the local city of Newry to Dublin by Train.
We have amazing views of the mountains from the house and the Mourne Mountains offer several hiking routes.
