Character village cottage in beautiful Devon, England.
In 2020 I would be interested in any offers.
My house is an old village cottage of great character situated in the heart of the village, just off the village square. In the square you will find an award winning friendly pub with garden, and also a community shop. The millennium village green, with pond and stream, has a footpath through it to our nearest town of Crediton. This path is a lovely walk of about a mile across fields and through a little wood. It is also a cycle path.
My cottage has a cosy sitting room with french windows to the garden, a good sized kitchen with table and chairs to eat at, and a sunny garden-room with access to both front and back gardens and with a big picture window. There is an upstairs bathroom and downstairs cloakroom. The downstairs has two entrances to the private front and back gardens, and a separate area for the washing machine.
The kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven and overlooks the garden.
The house is very quiet and peaceful with no traffic noise.
Upstairs I am offering one bedroom with a double bed, and lovely country views. I am keeping my second bedroom to store my own things, but I could provide an inflatable mattress to put downstairs if you need it.
I have a pretty courtyard garden with climbers and tubs, and with garden furniture, and a raised rear garden with vegetables and a sitting area with lovely views.
The village of Sandford has good bus links to Crediton (1 mile) and Exeter (9 miles).
Crediton is our small local market town with all facilities, which has a train line to Exeter and Exmouth on the South coast, and the old market town of Barnstaple near the North coast. Crediton also has buses, supermarkets, general shops and a swimming pool. There is a cycle footpath between my village of Sandford and Crediton.
The cottage is excellently situated for a visit to the west of England, and would suit visitors keen on walking, birdwatching, coastal and river activities.
Sandford village is in mid Devon with easy access to both Dartmoor to the south west and Exmoor to the north. These are beautiful wild places with many walks, and places of interest to visit.
The North Devon coast, with surfing beaches, is about 30 miles away and the South Devon coast and the Jurassic coast is about 15 miles. Both coasts are linked by a coastal footpath
Sandford village has 2 pubs, both serving food, and offering other entertainment. There is a community shop and post office right in the square. Sandford is a pretty little village with population about 2000, with many public footpaths and typical Devon scenery all around. There is a fishing lake nearby.
Exeter is the nearest city and airport and has many historic buildings, underground passages, cycle paths and walks. There are Roman remains, Tudor buldings, an excellent museum, the cathedral as well as modern shops. The River Exe has bird watching oportunities and ferry crossings. This is also the nearest airport. Exeter has excellent train links with London, Bristol, and also southwards into Cornwall.
The cottage has wifi, TV, DVD and radios.
The cottage is in an alley way, so does not have its own parivate parking. I park in the square.
I am a retired teacher and would be holidaying with a friend.
