Family home with large garden in quiet Warwickshire town
Refurbished 1920s comfortable family home in a leafy residential area of Kenilworth, Warwickshire
Number 28 is a very relaxed dog-friendly house and garden. We’ve just finished a total upgrade of this classic 1920s semi in a quiet corner of Kenilworth. There are two lounges, front and back; a large open-plan kitchen and dining area; two double bedrooms; a spacious study and a single bedroom. The master bedroom has an en-suite, air-conditioning and lovely views over the back garden and trees beyond. There’s a full-size roll-top bath with a shower in the main bathroom. Downstairs, there’s s also a separate WC and cloakroom. The massive 35m-long garden is east-west facing and a quite a sun-trap. It's very private with tall trees all around and a massive oak at the far end. The wide patio has outdoor dining chairs, table and sofa, plus smaller seating areas around and about. There is a big awning for the hotter days in summer. Facing the house from the back is a raised timber Scandi-style summerhouse with decking, plus a woodland garden behind with further seating. The whole property has been reconfigured, replastered and redecorated in the past two years. The original doors have been stripped and waxed and everything else (fittings, fixtures, carpeting, gas central heating, plumbing, electrics) are all new. There`s wooden flooring in the kitchen/dining area - handy for pets. The front lounge has the larger tv, with a smaller tv in the cosy garden room at the rear. Also downstairs is large pantry with washer/dryer, breadmaker and storage space. Parking is available on the drive as well as on the street - ample spaces for two cars. It’s a peaceful location, with many attractions within easy reach.

Kenilworth is a delightful small town in Warwickshire with easy access to Leamington Spa, Warwick (10 minutes’ drive), Stratford-on-Avon (15 minutes) and the Cotswolds (30-40 minutes). Although relatively small, it is well supplied with supermarkets, craft shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and cocktail bars. The town centre is about 15 minutes’ walk from our house and there’s a post office and vet just down the road. Literally. Our most famous landmark is Kenilworth Castle, a huge romantic ruin in glorious red sandstone (five minutes’ drive). At the centre is Abbey Fields, a large wooded park with a lake, and there are many nature reserves in the town as well as surrounding areas – ideal for dog walks. There’s also an indoor pool and outdoor lido at the heart of Abbey Fields which we’re hoping will reopen soon. Many stately homes are dotted about Warwickshire, including Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House. A quarter of an hour to the north is the historic city of Coventry its two cathedrals, transport museum and Herbert Art Gallery. The University of Warwick, with all its amenities, is just four miles away. Dog owners, garden lovers, golfers, fans of food, history and architecture are all spoilt for choice. We’ll provide a list of all the highlights, along with all our favourite places and maps of walks in the area.

About Our Family
Rob is a semi-retired professor of inorganic chemistry and I'm a printmaker of cyanotypes and a writer of historical fiction and science fantasy books. We love old black and white movies, aviation, Victoriana, sci-fi, bird watching, spy thrillers, drama, nice cocktails, cooking, arts and crafts, murder mysteries and travel. We are especially keen on dog-friendly exchanges in the UK. We have two collies, Bronwyn (six) and Holly (nearly two).
