House in Kongsberg, Norway

Our home is located in a living area, a quiet part of the Kongsberg city. It takes a 10 or 15 minutes walk to the city centre. Our house is a typical one family home, one living room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet, and one double bedroom at the main floor. Downstairs we have bedroom with two double beds, and a toilet/shower room as well.
The house was fully renovated in 2007, and will be found as modern and well situated up-to-date. The heating is based on both electricity, oil, and a cosy oven and an open fireplace. It is well furnished, and entertainment by wide screen tv, dvd and stereo radio/music. A portable computer may be connected to the wireless internet connection.
The garden is made to surround the house with the lawn and flower arrangements. One terrace under roofing and one other could be comfortable if the summer sun should be too strong. A greenhouse will supply a harvest of more excotic vegetables than what like to grow as far north as here. The cars are parked in a double garage.

Our Neighbourhood

The city of Kongsberg and the surrounding region have a lot of interesting things to watch, activities to join, and an amazing history to introduce to guests and tourists. Look into internet at . The region is Buskerud county and you may find a lot of info at .Our town was founded more than 300 years ago by our King when it was discovered silver in the mountains, and the name of this city is therefore: Kongsberg translated as Kongs- (King's) berg (mountain). There is not much more silver left in the "berg", but there is a fantastic opportunity to observe the mines and to learn about the life and work as a miner. we recommend watching the web: .As you will see from the map and pictures, a river is passing through the centre of the city. This water comes from the highland more than 200 km from the sea. The wild and beautiful nature could give a remarkable challenge to a fisherman or hiker that look for a tour in the forest on his way up in the mountains. All this is within a short distance to reach by car or even by a bicycle. Take a look into: , and I'm sure you will be encouraged.Within an hour drive by car you could come to Oslo, you could find the biggest amusement park in Norway; the Tusenfryd:  . Among other attractions, in another direction, you may join a boat cruise at the Telemark canal. This is a more than 100 years old, man made, canal of 150 km length, connecting the inland waters and the country highland located 72 meters higher than the sea level by entering 18 locks. Check the web: . If you go in a third direction, you could within the same one hour drive reach the cities of Tønsberg, Sandefjord, Larvik and Skien, all located to face the sea of the Skaw (Skagerak) where ferries crossing to Denmark and Sweden.
