Holiday home in Namsskogan, Norway
Note that our home/farm is available for exchange: NO1016551
How about a holiday in the wilderness, in a forest where moose, reindeer and other wild animals live?! You can go hiking, skiing, fishing, hunting or just enjoy the nature. Norway is the land of the Midnight sun, and even here at Namsskogan you experience daylight all night in summer!
Our cottage "Grøndalstunet" is a former conference centre. It is actually two buildings connected by a hallway. The first building is the sleeping quarters and a living room. This has recently been refurbished and consist of 4 bedrooms, large living room with high celing, two bathrooms and room for washing/clothes. In the living room there is 42" flatscreen TV, home cinema and a high-speed (fiber) internet connection (25MBs/25MBs).
The other building contains a large kitchen, dining area with a large table and chairs and a high celing living room with the fireplace as its centre piece. This room has a hunting cottage style.
In addition to this there is a quite new timber hut built using traditional teqnique. This hut has quite large electric sauna and a eating/BBQ area under roof.
We have a large garden and a lake right next to it where we have a small pier with a canoe. The cottage has all facilities you need, and is a great place to bring a large family of all ages. In a separate hut there is a BBQ area and a modern sauna.
GETTING THERE: The cottage is easily accessable by car or train. From the the airport in Trondheim there is a 3 hour drive. The airport has direct flights to a number of destinations in Europe. Car exchange can be considered.
Grocery stores are found 10 km north, at Trones, or 10 km south, at Harran. Our holiday home are open for exchange at any time, any season. It is good for the skiing- interested, but equally nice in summer or autumn. In the autumn there are blueberries, cloudberries and cranberries in the forests. This is also the main hunting season. For a non-simultaneous swap, you can come and stay in the winter if you like skiing!
This is also a great point from which to explore the coast and inland of the middle of Norway.
We are open for all suggestions and are looking forward to hearing from you!

Situated by a small lake and with several rivers in the area where you can fish and swim. Great area for fishing. The mountains are stunning and there are lots of hiking tracks. The four great Norwegian predators roam in the region. If not in the wild (!) you can visit them and other animals at the nordic Zoo (Namsskogan familiepark) nearby. Several options for cross-country and downhill skiing in winter.
As for activities in the area there is of course hiking and fishing. En example is the
area "Tunnsjøflyan" which is very close to the house:
If we leave the trailer it is possible to go there with the canoe and perhaps a tent.
Then there is the Nordic Zoo 10km from the house:
Higher up in the mountains (20 mins drive) is a very scenic small, old mining town called
"Skorovass". In this area the national hiking association has several marked hiking
Also a visit to Skorovass can be combined with a very scenic drive up to Røyrvik.
Further north maybe 1,5 hour drive from the house there is the Børgefjell nathional park
with stunning, untouched nature:
Cities in the area are Namsos, Steinkjer, Mosjøen og Sandnessjøen. Also there is a lot of coastal culture places to see.
A great way to travel and see Norway would be to go with the "Hurtigruta" the Coastal steamer. http://www.hurtigruten.com/
How about you arriving by plane in Bergen and take the Coastal ferry to Trondheim?! Our car could be left for you in Trondheim- from there it is a 3 hour drive to our holiday home. Returning from Trondheim to France at the end of your holiday..
Both cities are large and lots to see. A nice hotel is the Clarion just by the pier where the hurtigruta arrives, free entrance at the "PIR-badet"- great swimming/pool next to hotel if you stay there.
Also we should mention that there are a lot of different festivals all over Norway in the summer time.

We like to engage in different activities such as biking, playing football, running (Lotte and Rune), watching movies or fixing things around our house/cottage. Ivar (little brother) is often the centre of our attention and the older children enjoy being and playing with him! In summer we like to go to the sea, or the lake. We would love an exchange where we can stay at the beach but also learn something at a museum or a village. We will take good care of you home!
