House on coast of Maine , USA
If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful setting surrounded by beautiful trees, gorgeous views but within a few minutes drive to near-by villages, you will enjoy our home.
It has 3 levels and sits on over 4 wooded acres with conveniently close neighbors. It is on a hill above the water (an inlet from the Atlantic Ocean) and has beautiful views of islands, water, and mountains. On the top floor are 2 bedrooms (one with king size bed, one with double futon and desks and internet access), a new full bath (tub, toilet, sink and glass shower) and large balcony overlooking the living area. A new kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, stove-oven and cook top and large refrigerator-freezer, and laundry with washer and dryer, and a large open living-dining room, and a 1/2 bath, plus a small den with TV and DVD are all , on the main floor. Another living/bedroom with twin beds and bath with shower are on the lower level. The deck/ balcony surrounds most of the house and is extremely enjoyable especially for watching the sun set behind the mountains in the next state. There is also a 2-car garage. Our car is a 2016 small hatchback which is available for use.
The house has central oil heating and air conditioning, ceiling fans and wood burning stove/"fireplace".
We have a canoe (paddles and life jackets) and 2 bicycles which you may use also.
It is possible to swim at the dock just down the hill or off the rocks in front of the house, but the best place is at beautiful nearby beaches at Popham and Reid State Parks.
There are good grocery stores and farmers markets, a few shopping centers, many tourist, antique and other shops, movies and live summer music thaetre, good museums, beautiful historic buildings, colleges, and restaurants in the nearby towns of Bath and Brunswick. Portland, Maine is a lovely old seaport city, the largest in the state.
There are lovely islands and seaside towns to visit. The seafood (lobster especially) is wonderful.
It is about 2½ hours from Boston by bus or train and easy to get to New York, if you like.
The train in summer comes directly to Brunswick from Boston. From Boston airport, the bus comes directly to Portland with an easy bus connection to Brunswick or Bath (this is the way we usually get home).
Wi. Fi access available throughout the house.
