We are available for exchanges of between 1 week and 3 months or longer depending on the circumstances!
Hello! Thanks for checking us out. Why exchange with us? There are TONS of reasons! We have made four exchanges, with families in Ireland, Hawaii, England and Quebec and all have had a great time in our home!
THE HOUSE: We live in a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom home in a small town of about 25,000, small, but with easy access to everything you would want in a home exchange. The bedrooms have one California King, one Queen, and two double beds. We have all modern appliances, including a dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, working fireplace, microwave and central air conditioning. Our yard is almost an acre, with plenty of room for the kids to play, We have an XBOX One and plenty of games, a tree house and a 100 foot zip line. We also have an elliptical trainer. There are two tvs, a 50" 4G HD with netflix and cable, and one jetted tub together with a regular tub and two showers. We have a vegetable garden and an herb garden, all of which you can help yourself to, plus flower gardens and a native prairie patch. We offer free wireless compuor access, offer a car for your use, a six seat Toyota Camry Hybrid that is also very, very good with gas, about 40 mpg.. Our neighborhood is very friendly and the neighbors will welcome you as friends. We are two miles from the town center, in an area of families
THE TOWN: Wooster has a population of about 25,000, and is a progressive town which is home to the College of Wooster and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center. It was named one of the best 100 places to live in the entire US by Money Magazine in 2017 (#37). There are a number of sidewalk cafes, www.muddywaterscafe.com, funky little shops, and great local restaurants. It is a safe, and fun place, with an indoor pool, outdoor pool, indoor year round ice skating rink, and numerous parks and playgrounds. Each year the College hosts the Ohio Light Opera, a professional company that puts on shows all summer. www.wooster.edu/ohiolightopera. It is a taste of America that won't be experienced by just hitting the coasts, and big cities, but is still close enough to big time events and attractions to make it an ideal place to spend your holiday. www.woosteroh.com/index.php

We are non smokers, and do not own pets. We do leave a loose leaf notebook with detailed instructions about how things in our home work, where you can find what you might need and with ideas and suggestions on restaurants and things to do. A small town neighborhood that is extremely friendly and safe. Neighbors routinely stop and chat with each other as they take an evening stroll on the sidewalks down the tree lined streets. Our previous exchange partners have met and become friends with our neighbors, going to town festivals with them and getting to know them during their stay. We have many different kinds of families on our street, young parents with children, "empty nesters", families with teenagers and single individuals. They make up a terrific blend that makes our neighborhood both interesting and very family friendly.
- Boy - Age: 15
- We have one cat and one golden retriever (which will be boarded)
About Our Family
We are an adventurous couple who enjoy huge attractions and hidden gems when we travel. We have been to Machu Picchu in Peru, have sailed on the Nile and seen the pyramids, have sipped wine at a cafe near the Eiffel Tower and have marveled at the mysteries of Stonehenge. At the same time, we enjoyed a week on the beach at Ballycotton, Ireland, and spent enjoyable days on the back roads and small hamlets of rural England. In short we are always looking for adventure and find it through travel of all descriptions. We also want our exchange partners to feel the same way about our home and we work very hard to ensure your exchange with us with be a wonderful experience for both families.
Melanie is semi-retired after successful careers in science research and teaching. She now teaches Biology part-time in the local high school International Baccalaureate program. Lon has been an attorney for 38 years, but now works only 3-4 days per week. When not travelling, which they do as frequently as they can, they enjoy spending time with their adult children and grandson, and especially like meeting people from around the world. Melanie is a voracious reader, while Lon loves the cinema. They try to be environmentally conscious and love experiencing new people and cultures.
