Hello !
ANTWERPEN IN TOP 10 CITIES TO VISIT IN 2018 (LONELY PLANET) : https://www.lonelyplanet.com/best-in-travel/cities#6
'With its perfectly preserved medieval buildings and ancient cobblestone streets, Antwerp might seem content to rest on historic laurels. In fact, Belgium’s second-largest city is a vibrant, cosmopolitan place where avant-garde fashion, cutting-edge architecture and progressive cuisine flourish. In recent years, urban renewal has come to the gritty docklands of the north (Eilandje) and to the former down-at-the-heels neighborhood (Zuid) in the south. Here’s how to pass a few days in one of Europe’s coolest lesser-known destinations....' (2017, NY Post)
We live in the suburbs of Antwerp (Edegem) and hope to welcome you one day in our house. We live in a beautiful quite street, with lots of trees and calm surroundings. Close to the university, big parks, an old fortress and the main hospital.
Antwerp is famous for the diamant area, the harbor and the docks, the main squares, all the important museums. All in short distance or can be reached by public transport (bus 32). We live 15 minutes away from the main railway stations and the central highways/tunnels to Brussels (30 minutes), Gent (30 minutes), Bruges (50 minutes), Rotterdam (1h), Amsterdam (1,5h), Paris (3h). From Antwerp you easily reach different European cities or the sea (1h) or the Ardens (2h).
Antwerp is a very lively, busy and attractive cosmopolitan city with many excellent restaurants and bars, theaters and galleries, shops and museums. It welcomes thousands of tourists a year for summerfestivals, tours and smaller performances on the different squares and neigbourhoods.
Our nuclear family consists of Hade (my wife, civil servant), Rein (managing director for a refugee organisation) and our three kids (Bente, Mart and Han).
Our house is situated in suburbs and you will find several parks and playgrounds in the immediate neighbourhood (2 minutes walk). A public transport hub (buses) is around the corner. In the neighbourhood you also find all main banks (ING, BNP, CBC), supermarkets (carrefour, match) and bakery and butcher.
Our house has all modern facilities (washing and drying machine, toilet, tv, internet, etc) and is fully equipped for people with disabilities. On the groundfloor we have a kitchen with all modern appliances and a big table for 12 people. Our living room is spacious (80m2) and bright, with view on the garden. Next to it is a therapy room with onepersonbed for a child, a bedroom (double bed 160cm and one personbed) and a bathroom (bath, walk in shower and toilet). A garage and two car parks are in front of the house. On the first floor you find a dressing room, the masterbedroom (40 m2, doubled bed 160 cm) and a bathroom (bath and toilet). This masterbedroom overlooks a terrace and our garden. We have 2 big bedrooms for the children on the 2nd floor and a bathroom (shower and toilet). Each with a double bed (140 cm). You'll have internet connection in different rooms and TV cable. In the garden you'll find sport equipment and swimming pool (in the summer), a bbq and furniture.
We welcome families with kids, people who enjoy culture and city life or travellers who wish to enjoy Antwerp and other cities. We wish to have visitors who respect our books and paintings and enjoy the wealth and diversity of our city.
