We're looking for a cosy place to spend our Christmas holidays. Feel free to contact us!! |
A cosy family house in a lovely, quiet street, close to Bruges (20km) and to the sea (10km)
Our house is a spacious house in Gistel, a small and quiet town. Gistel is situated within a distance of 20 km from Bruges, and only 10 km from the sea. You can even go there by bike if you would like that.
We live in a two-storey house once built by my grandparents and completely renovated three years ago. What we really like about our house is that it is light and that it is surrounded by a quiet, green environment. On the ground floor there is a hall with toilet, a spacious living-room with two couches, a fireplace, digital TV, family table and play corner. From the living-room you can enter the kitchen. The oaken kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave and an induction unit to cook. At the cooking island with the induction unit you can enjoy your breakfast or an appetiser. In the kitchen you can also find a family table. The sliding window gives you access to the terrace. There's another kitchen door that leads you to the washing room. In the washing room there's a washing machine, a tumble dryer, cleaning products and a shower. As you can enter the garden from the washing room, this can be quite convenient in summer when you come back from the beach. Next to the house there's a garage where you can park your car or you can leave it on the long drive on the right side of the house.
In the hall you can take the staircase up to the first floor. There you will find a small but cosy bathroom with a washbasin and a bath, 3 bedrooms and another toilet. Two of the three bedrooms (= children's rooms) look out on the back garden. The third one (parents' room) looks out on the street. It has a new, large bed (width = 1,80 m) and two bedside tables. Since there isn't much passage in the street, you'll have a quiet night.
The total surface of our stretch of land is 840 square metres. We have a front garden, a small stretch of grass at the side and a relatively large back garden. There you can use your relaxing chairs, BBQ... If you have children, they can use a plastic swimming pool, sandbasin and other toys to play with.

Our Neighbourhood

There are many things you can do while you are around.
If you are in for some culture, definitely visit the lovely cities Bruges and Ghent. Bruges is only a 25-minute drive. Just outside Bruges there are wonderful places to walk and just enjoy nature. If you want to visit Ghent, it will take you about 40 minutes by car.
If you would like to enjoy the beach, there are several options. Either you can take the bike and enjoy a day in Ostend. It is about 10 km from our house. By bike it takes you about 30 minutes to get there. You can definitely use our bikes. There's also a bus stop within walking distance. The beaches that we prefer are in De Haan en Nieuwpoort (about 20km from our house). It's definitely doable to get there by bike as well.
If you have children, you can visit the fantastic recreational parc Plopsaland, the local swimming pool in Gistel or the lovely one in Bruges, go to indoor playgrounds...
We are more than happy to give you more information about these and other places to visit.
In the small town where we live (Gistel) you can find nice restaurants (one with a large terrace, playgarden and lovely food!), 4 supermarkets, 5 bakeries, 4 butchers.... So even though it's a quiet place, you can enjoy the conveniences of a city.

IE49240We really enjoyed our exchange to Belgium. Hannelore and her family were lovely people who took great care of our home for which we are very grateful. Their home was very comfortable and was spotlessly clean. Thank you for such a great holiday.
